yw Aidy - hope your puds turn out good :)

I haven't actually moved to the states yet - I'm at the beginning of my visa "journey"! But I guess the big thing I'll miss about UK is our rain (understandably as I am moving to Arizona!). It's a chilly 95F there at the moment though!! But can't wait to feel that +100F AZ sun on my face!! Where are you in the states?

Depends on where you move. We have quite a range of types around here. Idaho seems pretty tame...too quiet for me to know much about them. Just city to rural would be a big enough jump, but rural areas tend to be quite conservative, so you may run into a lot of different ideas. But you'll have your SO to help you through that. :)

You'll get over the 100+ heat pretty quickly, I fear. Luckily, we Phoenicians tend to dart from our air conditioned houses into our air conditioned cars and then to our air conditioned work places, then turn around and repeat in reverse. You'll miss the rain, but when we get it here, it comes down REALLY hard in some spectacular storms. If you see one of these, don't even think about driving until the rain comes behind!

Wow - Bren has warned me of the dust storms! From some of those pictures, they "look" gorgeous - although I hear you about driving in them!! LOL. Both times I've been to AZ have been during summer and I do have to admit that I didn't hang around jumping from air conditioned car to air conditioned mall etc. And I saw some pretty cool electrical storms last 4th July while in Phoenix. The rain we got lasted about 10 mins and was as heavy as you said - whereas in Scotland we can be used to 10 solid days of rain!! But I really believe you guys when you say the heat is a "dry heat" - much better than the humid weather we get here - bring it on is all I can say!

Oh, BTW - we got our NOA1 in the post today!!!! LOL - I know this is the very start but I am so excited!!! Ask me again in 3-4 months if I am still as excited!

Hahahahahaha...yes, my yorkshire puddings left alot to the imagination. They were pretty much not edible. Horrible little white hockey pucks they were. It was disappointing because usually I'm quite a good cook. Oh well. I guess Aidy will have to get used to the foods I cook. Bring on the mexican foods!!! Yayyy! And babe, it will be so nice to actually be together. I'm gonna shoot my webcam in a ritual I think. Damned thing anyway.

You are gonna get culture shock though. I live in small town Idaho. You're from Sheffield. It gets up to 110 in the summer and -5 in the winter. No public transport. No take out. It's different, but I HOPE you don't hate it. I just worry that you will!

LOL about the curly wurlys! You will be shocked at what I got through customs last time. Never doing it again though, all that room could of been used for shoes :( *sigh*.

Cadburys cream eggs

20X recipie sachets (Curry sauce, spag bol etc...All colemans)

Reggae Reggae sauce

Yorkshire pudding batter mix (The best way not to screw it up!)

Mushy peas in a can

Sticky toffee pudding

Bran Flakes

Mini eggs (Cadburys)

Toblerone

Fabric Conditioner (Tesco cheap stuff but it smells amazing)

Mint sauce

Apple sauce

Fish and chip batter mix

and I think thats it.

Ohhh no wait...Jaffa cakes!

That was my big lot which I needed to take over as my Fiancee couldent visit the UK while in the Navy on duty. So I made him english dinners every night :).

I had two huge bags and the security guy just looked at me and said "Shoes" and I said..."YES!" and walked on. However, I made sure to obey the rules and not take fruit, veg, meat, unless it was tinned or jarred.

Apparently everythings been eaten now except some Recipie sachets, and some batter left over :).

I think it must depend on the Wal-Mart - the Kissimmee Wal-Mart that I was unfortunate enough to have to shop in did sell yorkshire Pudding batter, although it wasn't Aunt Bessies. I raved about Yorkshires (being a Yorkshire lass myself :)) to everyone at work so when we had a pot luck for Thanksgiving I decided to make some!! Unfortunately was hampered by 3 things - 1) I've never actually made Yorkshire puddings before  2) The Yorkshire mix from Wal-Mart wasn't great and 3) My crappy Disney-accommodation oven couldn't hold a temperature long enough to cook them properly!!

Long story short...I turned up to work with some batter discs rather than true Yorkshires. Everyone was VERY polite, bless 'em, but they weren't the best...

Oh, and MARMITE - FOOD OF THE GODS!!! I eat it straight off the knife LOL. Plus it provided me with one of the funniest moments ever when my other half (USC) tried it for the first time on a bagel.....his face was priceless. I doubt he'll be eating it again ;)

Cadburys cream eggs

20X recipie sachets (Curry sauce, spag bol etc...All colemans)

Reggae Reggae sauce

Yorkshire pudding batter mix (The best way not to screw it up!)

Mushy peas in a can

Sticky toffee pudding

Bran Flakes

Mini eggs (Cadburys)

Toblerone

Fabric Conditioner (Tesco cheap stuff but it smells amazing)

Mint sauce

Apple sauce

Fish and chip batter mix

and I think thats it.

Ohhh no wait...Jaffa cakes!

Apparently everythings been eaten now except some Recipie sachets, and some batter left over :).

You are (or will be) in Palm Beach County?

If so, luckily for you, a lot of those things are available in various Publix stores in our area (the southern half of the county) . they all have a slightly different selection, but I've definitely seen the bolded ones.

There's also a brit store in Lake Worth.

Real love stories never have endings...

Hopefully there's enough brit expats up there to make a Publix Brit food selection viable.

Here's the site for the British Depot.

You may be able to find something closer, though.
