how about if you exclusively breast-feed? health insurance is not something i'm worried about - i have two of them. i know expenses increase when they get older though.. like school years? but i'm not too worried about that either, as my hubby is supposed to graduate with a pharmD in 3 years inshaAllah, and i do not make much but it is sufficient. so i guess what i'm saying is, is supporting a child up to 3 yrs old expensive?? *sigh* my heart aches to stop using birth control, my patience to have a child is hanging by a thread here.. :(

Yes it can be expensive as we all have said.. but it is an adjustment that you make. As my mom once said to me.. "If you wait until you have enough money, you won't have kids"

I agree completely. It's never going to be perfect from all angles. Come up with some minimum requirements and realize that there will always be something else you'd like taken care of before having that baby. Don't wait for all of it to happen first. If your heart says your ready and your minimum requirements are met (or you're reasonably close), chances are you are ready. Money, job, house and all the other "small" things usually work themselves out.

it's not that it gets more or less expensive after the age of 3 or school age.. it becomes different expenses... "mom I wanna play soccer" "mom I need $5 for this thing at school". It's all relative.

As far as money: You take what you have and you make the best of it. *shrugs*

Money wasn't an issue for us when we decided to have another one. :)

the havinga shower is a good idea. was thinking the same for me!

do people give themselfs a shower? a friend does it dont they or what?

I saw on yummy mummy the new style of showers,,drinks and all men and women.

sounds like alot of fun to me!

20 weeks next week hurray!

Sadia

My mom is actually going to have it for me....but i plan on doing all of the planning! :D Plus, when we add up all of the people that we know that we would invite it would total 75-100 people!!! we are a tight knit group of albanians that live in the same area and everyone gets together for baby showers and bridal showers so its not unusual to have lots of people! If everyone comes that i would want to invite, I wont have to worry about baby clothes at all for any other kids too!!!!

One thing that i plan on buying for the baby, whether it be a boy or girl, is a little mini brett farve jersey! (s)he will have to know at a young age that (s)he comes from a long line of packer fans!!! If i have a girl, she'll get the jersey and i wanna find a little cheerleader outfit too!

my poor child...........

My friends will have the baby shower for me. I have a huge family and lots of friends that will come so we are sure to get some good stuff. The upside is, this is 3rd baby, I know what I really want and need this time! We're going to go register (at Wal Mart :P ) so that we get what we want. So far we've bought 3 outfits, the furniture, the stroller/carseat that we wanted, a lamp, the bedding for the crib, stuff like that. The things I don't want someone to get wrong

Hopefully, we'll get enough stuff done this weekend that painting the baby's room and setting up the furniture will be Saturdays' job :)

I was also planning on registering, but at target!

I was wondering.....how far along is it appropriate to have a baby shower?? I was thinking of having mine in may, by then i'll be about 6 months, which i think is a good time. I dont want to be too big where i cant have any fun at my own shower!

I am really hoping that my closer family (mom grandma etc) will pitch in and help me get some of the bigger stuff like the crib and whatnot! I really want to get one of those convertable cribs that changes into a full sized bed! those seem really cool, and you dont have to worry about getting a new bed for a really long time!

i've seen baby showers at different times.. it just depends on what you are comfortable with. They are going to do mine in May probably (I'm due in July). We'll prolly register at both Wal Mart and Target. They have such cute stuff at both places.

As far as the crib and stuff.. I bought a 3 piece set at Wal Mart. It's a changing table, dresser, and crib. It was $199 for all three. The crib turns into a toddler bed and a daybed (all using the crib mattress). Here is the link: Nursery in a box It was a great deal, and if you get it in the natural color it's beautiful. I know it's not the full size convertible that you want, but it's an option.

I did see those too! Thats probably what we'll end up doing, plus you cant beat $200 for three pieces! especially since some cribs along cost that much!

hi all ,,sadia here again...was kind of feeling hesitant about asking this question but,,here it goes.

I am having to wear mini pads now..I think it's urine leakage. anyone have this? 20 weeks..

I am going to have an ultrasound on the 8th..maybe I should schedule a dr appointment same day?

kind of getting worried.

and another question,,I live in a 3 bedroom apt ,,2 boys.

well we don't have a nursery,is anyone dealing with this also? feel so guilty about that we want to find something bigger with 4 bedrooms as the baby gets bigger. think a crib in the parents room

is kind of bad looking? I man I guess with my other babies I prefered them next to my bed anyways.

see ammna,,your worried about money raising a baby and I am worried about a nursery hehe.

I guess it's not a biggie,, just do what u can right?

the shower idea I'll desperatly need. they used to give free carseats out at our hospital but I think the laws

have changed in what u need to have for safety measures for carseats? I got NO idea what to look for in that department either ,,since the hospital here always supplied us mommys with one as we left the hospital.

ok and another question guys,,this is my 3rd,,another c section. I am nervous, because I been watching some births on tv with complications on scar tissue ect.

talk about getting paranoid and panicked about things half way thru geez.

pardon all the questions. ya and one more hehe how one arth did u girls get that baby countdown bar on your names?

Sadia, I am a nurse that works with moms and babies after delivery. Just wanted to respond to your question about whether a crib in the parent's room looks bad. NO!!! The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends keeping the baby in a crib (or bassinet, whichever is appropriate) in the parents' room for the first year of the baby's life. NOT in the parents' bed but in the same room. It has been found to greatly reduce the risk of SIDS. To me, safety is ALOT more important than whether it looks cute!

Sadia,

I think that the leakage you are having is something that can happen during pregnancy, do talk to your Doctor about it. He/She may give you some exercises to do to help with that.

I also will be having a c-section for the 3rd time, but haven't heard about the scar tissue issue, I will look into it now...LOL.

Another thing we have in common is the 3 bedroom issue. I have a son 12 and a daughter 8 and the baby on the way. We are just going to put the baby in our room for now. I don't see us moving anytime soon, since I'm going to college and we live on campus and it is really cheep for us.

as for the baby countdown on my name..... if you click on mine it should take you to the web page... there you put in your info, and it will create a link... you copy that link into your signature here on VJ...hope that helps..

patricia thanks for the support,,I will be going in for an ultrasound on wed so maybe I can schedule also to see the dr that day as I am worried about the leakage.

how are you feeling these days? I just feel relieved to be half way there. I guess the baby being in our bedroom is not such a bad idea as others to on here have said it's best to have the baby near bye anyways.

I don't have the crib yet even! thanks for the baby countdown ,,I hope it works now we will see:)

if not I'll feel kind of silly ...

take care ,,see u in baby corner
