they let me touch Noah today. :D .. they let me put some lotion on his legs and arms.... it was great being able to touch him.... it was kind of weird because the nurses were working on him etc.. and I was thinking that all I wanted to do was touch my baby when the nurse came up to me and asked if I wanted to put the lotion on... :)

Noah had a good day today... his blood pressure was pretty stable...

P.S. I forgot to mention that they weighed him last night and he was 1 pound 9 ounces....

Marilyn, I just popped in here to check how all the Moms and Moms-to-be are and I read about your little boy. My very best wishes go out to little Noah, you and your husband. My 24 year old sister was born at Week 23 too and came through perfectly fine. And that was 24 years ago! So, I can only imagine that your little guy has the very best care at his disposal and will fight on too. Big (((HUGS))) Marilyn and we'll say a prayer here for little Noah. Being allowed to touch him is a great sign and must have been such a thrill for you. All our thoughts are with your family (F)(F)(F)

Glad he is doing well. :D

As I had written on here not too long ago, good friends of mine had their baby early, in August. She wasn't as early(32 weeks) but they were at the hospital every day for about a month or so until the baby could come home. We also visited the baby in the NICU twice. The baby is doing great now and I wish the same for Noah. :)

Praying for you all!

yay EnglishSammy! Now you can sign up for those fun newsletters and create a ticker! About the gender, I was told by a lot of people that it is more fun to wait until delivery but I am a gal who HATES surprises. If they are unexpected then great but if I know I have to wait then I get anxious. I knew all along I was having a boy...I don't know it's weird but I felt it. I would tell people and they wouldn't believe me and tell me i was having a girl. Despite my body telling me it was a boy I had this little tiny part of me hoping to be proved wrong.

Marilyn....Noah is one helluva fighter. And he's looking good too, girl.

It was an awesome feeling to finally get to touch him, wasn't it? (L)

I remember when I first got to touch my preemie, Justin, all those years ago. I felt like I was finally going to be able to bond with him. Tell the nurses that you want to interact with Noah as often as is possible. I actually used to sit there and talk to Justin thru one of the holes in his Isolette/incubator. And as another member here said, see if you can record you and your husband's voice and have it played back to him! I also had a very small music box that the nurses sterilized and then put in my son's incubator. It appeared to calm and soothe him whenever they played it for him when/if he was distraught they said...

It's going to be a long haul, girl, so you worry about getting your reserves up first and healing from the birth.

You can only do what you can do, that's all.

To give you some more cheer, here's some pics of my preemie from 18 years ago, and what he looks like now. :D

He was one day old in this first pic...

justin24hourspt2.jpg

This was the very first time I got to hold him when he was 3 and a half weeks old. You can see how tiny his little head was in comparison to my hand...

And now...
