I am very confused now....

What kind of doctor do I need for prenatal care?

a OB-GYN , a GYNECOLOgist or a OBSTETRICian?

I just called a doctor and in her info it said her specialties were: Maternal & Fetal Med/Perinatology, Obstericas and Gynecology.... Well, like I said I called and asked if she was accepting any new patients and the lady said she is Perinatologist is that what you need and I said no, I was looking for a Ob-Gyn and she said sorry, we don't have any of those here... .... there was another doctor in that same office that was on my list too and it says her specialities are obstetrics and gynecology...

Now I am really confused

marilyn ...

you really should find an OB-GYN and quick. you should have long since started with pre-natal care, check-up and vitamins. i know! i know! i sound like an alarmist but ... that's me when it comes to babies!!

an OB specializes in pregnancy, childbirth, etc ... a GYN specializes in the reproductive system ... so most are OB-GYN's .... the easiest way to find one is to call your insurance company and ask who is covered through your plan!!

good luck and i hope you have a great pregnancy!!

I feel like such a doofus :P...

My plan today was to go to the clinic and pick up some sample packs of prenatal vitamins.... ( the doctor isn't back till the end of June but they said I could have some sample packs to tide me over)

I phoned before I left and they said they would be there till about 3:30pm.... It was 2:30 when I called so I left right aways....

I had the address of the clinic and a little map my hubby wrote out for me... I even asked hubby which way was North etc.. because the address was on N Sunset...

well, I drove up and down Sunset and I could not find the address... I tried calling the office but the dang pay phone kept spitting my money back at me :P... by that time it was 3:30pm so I just headed home...

I figured I had written the address down wrong or something... Turns out I had the address right but hubby had misinformed me of which way was North :P... (I am hopeless with north and south etc..) and if I would have just kept driving a little further on what I thought was south sunset I would have hit north sunset and I would have found the clinic :P... SO I guess I have to go out again tomorrow :P

And to top it off it is about 90 degrees outside and the air condiotioning in our car doesn't work :P

We had our ultrasound today and found out the due date is January 6, 2007. My husband (coming from a culture that does not include men in pregnancy) was positive that the baby was "just like water" right now - and when he saw the pictures of the baby's profile and beating heart he started to tear up (shhh don't tell!). It was really cute. We have picked out names for our little dude (however i'm really pushing for a girl)

Boy: Mohammad Amin or (i like) Tariq Chassim

Girl: Kenza Jolie or Malika Iman

Everyone (me and baby) healthy btw! ohh and hubby posted the pictures on the fridge as soon as he came home. too cute!

honestly??? it shouldn't matter at all what strangers on the internet think about whether you start a family right now. this is definitely a decision that you and your husband should be making together.

there are pros and cons to each side of the argument: have them now or wait. i'm sure you have an answer deep down inside you ... you just need to search for it!

best of luck!!!

No of course not, it doesn't matter what strangers think because eventually we're going to do what we feel is right. I just wanted to hear what other people thought about it and if anyone else is in the same situation as us. I guess the bottom line is, I'm kinda scared, but I guess those are normal feelings. I had two children from a previous marriage that are now 12 and 9. WHOA! I feel really old now LOL

Wow! That is awesome! See, I don't know anyone, not ONE person who is "starting over". Congrats! We were talking about trying next month when our health insurance kicks in (July 2). Do you know what you're having?
