anja... yes, all kids must be vaccinated or have had chicken pox by the time they enter kindergarten.

I talked to my sister last night and she said she had the same thing... that she couldn't walk some days because the pain was so bad. Her doctor put her on some painkillers and physical therapy, so we'll see what mine has to say this afternoon.

A little slow to post, lots goin on. I have been actively reading this board, mainly cuz my niece in law was preggers and having soooo many problems. She had an incompetent cervix due to having surgery when she was younger for cervical cancer. She lost the first one last July, as the stupid doctor wasnt really monitoring her and hadnt put her at high risk. We all think the babe would have made it had she been watched closely.

So in early October we found out she was preggers again, we were all so worried. But she changed dr.'s, this one is GOOOOOOD. She was due June 15th, well we all knew no way would she go THAT far, but the hope was she could go far enuff! She was put on total bedrest in January, and then was still active so was hospitalized on bedrest on Feb 13th at like 22 weeks. Well, this Sunday, April 2nd, after hopes an prayers, and at 29 weeks and 2 days, the lil one was born! (Due to infection they had to do emergency c section).

She seems to be fine, they have done the brain scan and its good, she is 3 lbs and 7 oz. She would have been a huge baby had she made it much longer! Altho they DID give the steroid shots, knowing she would deliver early.

Girl is named Kelynn Marie, my nephew tells me that means "Warrior princess" in celtic.

Oh, if I would get pregnant, I would have you all beat, I am 41, I have heard you only have bout 8% chance after 40 tho.

Wow, she would have been a big baby if she went full term! My sister Rachel, who's now 23, was 1lb 7ozs when she was born, she was 3 and a half months premature.

I haven't been able to post much latley... school is really rough right now as the semester is winding down. But wanted to say CONGRATS to all the good news I have read since I last posted and to the newly pregnant

I also wanted to post this email my mom sent me I thought it would bring a smile to those of us born durning the 70's or before! enjoy

BORN IN THE

1930's 40's, 50's, 60's and early 70's !!

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they

carried us.

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, our baby cribs were covered with bright colored

lead-based paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we

rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took

hitchhiking.

As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags.

Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE

actually died from this.

We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank soda pop with sugar in it, but

we weren't overweight because

WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back

when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down

the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the

bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all, no

99 channels on cable, no DVD movies, no surround sound, no cell

phones, no personal computers, no Internet or Internet chat

rooms..........WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no

lawsuits from these accidents.

We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.

We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays,

made up games with sticks and tennis balls and although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't

had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They

actually sided with the law!

This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers

and inventors ever!

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned

HOW TO

DEAL WITH IT ALL!

And YOU are one of them! CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as

kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated our lives for our own good.

and while you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave their parents were.

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it?!

doctors are no longer saying caffeine is bad. they recommend up to 3 cups of coffee per day.

Most of those ring true for pretty much every decade except 90's and present. I was an only child but i was always playing outside by myself every day! now, plop a game boy in front of a kid and wonder why he weighs more than you do!

my kid is going to like the outdoors damnit!!

went to the doc yesterday. He had me go get fitted for a maternity support belt (kinda like a modified back brace) to help with the pain. He showed me some stretching excercises and said that if in 1 week I'm not better I will have to go to physical therapy.

While we were there he listened to the baby's heartbeat and detected some arrhythmia in the baby's heartbeat. He said it could have been because he may have had the hiccups, but he's not sure. He said it's normal and I shouldn't worry (yeah right, don't worry!) He's going to check it again in a week and then if it does it again we will have to have an echo done on the baby's heart to be sure everything is ok. He said even if it is arrhythmia that most times it corrects itself. I did some reading last night about it on the net, and it sounds like it happens and when it does it's normal, so I shouldn't worry, but I can't stop worrying!

Faith, re: the coffee...I've also read that the CW on caffeine during pregnancy has changed, for which I'm extremely grateful (LOL).

How are you ladies who like your coffee handling pregnancy with or without it? I'm still a long way from contemplating motherhood, but I'm sitting here with my mug as we speak, and I'm wondering if maybe I should still cut out the caffeine, just to be safe. I'm not a big tea or cola drinker, so it's really just coffee that I'd worry about.

i'm a soda drinker.. i hate coffee. and my doc said i was ok drinking it so I am.
