home pregnancy tests can detect levels of the hormone at different degrees. I bought some tests online that test out at least at 20. That is pretty early, as your level doubles every 48 hours or so. But even so, that is about 1 week before your period is due.

side note, we finally got the baby's room done. We'll take some pics and post them soon as promised!

the tests are pretty accurate, right? i might just go get one in the next day or so because i still kinda feel like i want to throw up

Today is day 11 of waiting for my amnio results.

My nerves are completely shot.

They told us to expect the results in 10-14 days.

I sure hope it's soon.....the waiting is so hard

If you had your period a week ago, there is no way that the levels would show up on the test unless you ovulated the day your period ended, which would mean you would get your next period in 1 week. Is that how your system usually works? Odd cycles?

Honestly, I think if you tested now you could very possibly be wasting your money (because they are so expensive and the chances of you popping positive now are very slim). Trust me. When I was trying to conceive after my two miscarriages we spent over 100 bucks a month on tests because I would test early or keep testing after a negative because I wanted it so bad. If I were you, I would wait until the time your period is close to being due and then test. Good luck!

No news; but there's 7 months (plus some change) after the wedding (you already know the date from my signature) to produce a baby.

anyone had ortho tricyclen (sp??) fail on them around here? that's what i use ...

nizzar and i had a nice, very honest conversation about fears and pregnancy, pros and cons both ways, and he made me feel a lot better about the possibility (i've always been nervous about motherhood )

Don't trust a negative on a HPT. I was late for my period. Usually I am regular but had been on the BCP for many years and had been off it for a two months. First month I was regular, second month I was late. So I took a HPT 3 days after my period was due. Negative. Went online to a pregnancy board and was given the advice wait a week and try again. Also found out on the board that my cycles could just be wacked up because of recently coming off BCP. Waited a week did another HPT - another Negative! So now Im thinking that my cycles are just messed up. Wait a couple more days do another HPT this time one of those Clear blue digital ones and got another NOT PREGNANT. So make an appointment with my dr to discuss my wacked up cycles. A few days before my appointment I started getting PMS type symtoms so almost cancelled my appoinment but figure I'll go anyways. At the dr I'm trying to explain my crazy new cycles and she says Oh, you want a pregnancy test. I tell her I've already had 3 negatives. She says we'll get you a blood test. Call back tomorrow with for your results. I also had my thyroid checked as I am already on thyroid meds. She tells me to make an appointment MOnday to discuss those results. So the next day Friday comes and I dont bother calling for my results as I Know I'm not pregnant. Go in for my thyroid results Monday and she asks you know your results. I say no. She says I told you to call the next day. I'm like well I don't think I'm pregnant. WRONG!!! So here I am today almost 8 weeks.

IF you think you may be prego - go to the doctor - don't count on the HPTs!!!

yes, if the HPT is detecting those hormone levels it is because you are producing the pregnancy hormone.

yes, if the HPT is detecting those hormone levels it is because you are producing the pregnancy hormone.

I guess the exception to that would be if the HPT was bought at a dollar store.

never buy HPT's from the dollar store!

ya'll know that the test do expire, and you MUST read them in the time alloted.
