thank you Patricia for you posts.... they were very helpful and I'll look those things up!

Breastfeeding is something we always do here in Brazil. Everytime you can at least. And I don't know if it's just a cultural thing but I feel like it's very important, to me at least. I'll do my best, and I hope my best is enough..... if it's not, then we'll work something out!

I already have 2 kids and I've done it both ways. With my first son I've had an epidural. It sucked. I never felt the urge to push, I felt like ####### immediately afterward and all I wanted to do was sleep. (I can only vouch for the first 3 hours after the birth because after that I hemmorraged and almost bled out).

With my second son, I had no drugs. There wasn't time, and I really didn't want them. I felt EVERYTHING. I felt him move down the birth canal (which was AWESOME to feel him move down it was like omg here he comes!) I felt the urge to push, which truely does make it easier to give birth. And afterwards, well because I didn't have drugs I was allowed to get up out of bed right away, go take a shower and felt fine the rest of the day. I felt like I could get up and go run a marathon, I felt that good. It made it much easier to relax and enjoy my baby.

We are planning on no drugs this time. However, I do understand that if the baby doesn't turn (he was breech at our last ultrasound) I'll have to have a c-section. It's my personal choice to do the no drugs thing. (And I'm a wimp when it comes to pain before you start thinking that I must be tough  I cry when I get a paper cut)

I have always thought about how much pain I'm gonna have to go through in labor. But I always believed I'd have a c-section because that's what most women have here in Brazil.... now that I'm moving to the US, I researched a lot and I'm pretty much decided I'll have a normal one. But I'll keep on looking for information about pain killers. I don't think I'll want to have anything too strong..... maybe just laughing gas or something..... but I'm not sure yet.

Thanks for your post

I had an epidural with both of my prior pregnancies and to me it was a Godsend.

I am definitely planning on having one with this baby....

I'll talk to the doctor about that one too..... when the time comes! That's what my mom and both of my cousins had and they thought it was great!

I had my doctors appointment on Friday. It was my first, even though im 20 weeks (which i was officially 20 weeks on friday).

She said that my expected due date is August 13 (one day off from online calculations).

When i made the appointment, i told the receptionist that i was already pregnant, but when i went in to see the doc, she said "so, your trying to get pregnant??" ummmm...no, i already am. So needless to say, she wasnt prepared to run any tests or anything. But, i got to hear the baby's heartbeat, which she said sounded really good and strong! (yeah). She had me go to the hospital to get blood tests run, which they took six viles of blood!!! (ouch). and i have an appointment for the 7th to get actually tests and a pap done! She also said that she will only do one ultrasound in about 4-6 weeks, which sucks cause i only get one shot to see what its going to be. So i may not be able to see what it is after all! poop!

I definately feel so much better now though having gone to the doc. The wait was a killer!

I aint cool enough for a signature.....

umm.. so what does it feel like at the very VERY beginning? i had a period last week, but for the past few days i've been queasy for no apparent reason. is it something where you can tell if you are within just a few days of it happening? or do the "symptoms" usually show up after a month or so?

.... i feel like i should have had some sort of class on this when i was younger! i really don't know what i'm doing :P

Just apply for Uk passport from Washington and US passport through local court. The baby will automatically be an american citizen. The baby will also by birth be a british citizen through parentage.

My baby daugher Chloe was born last August and we filled out all the paperwork. She now has two passports and dual citizenship no problems.

umm.. so what does it feel like at the very VERY beginning? i had a period last week, but for the past few days i've been queasy for no apparent reason. is it something where you can tell if you are within just a few days of it happening? or do the "symptoms" usually show up after a month or so?

.... i feel like i should have had some sort of class on this when i was younger! i really don't know what i'm doing :P

It can happen. When I was pg with my first one I had the worst case of flu/pneumonia. I had just had my period and went to the dr. He asked me when was last menses? I said last week and he said I want to do pg test before chest xrays. I was so sick I did not care. Well turns out I was pg and no xrays or meds were allowed. Go and get a home pg test and if it is positive make an appointment with your physician.

Can home pregnancy tests detect it that early?? When i did the home pregnancy test, it was about two weeks after i actually got pregnant, but i missed my period.....

From Walgreens' site, some of them claim that they can do it up to 4 days before.

i think i'm going to wait a little while longer before i test because when i told my hubby about it, he said he was having the same symptoms ... so either they're sympathy pains, or he's pregnant too, or it's something we ate :P ... still keeping an eye on it .....

home pregnancy tests can detect levels of the hormone at different degrees. I bought some tests online that test out at least at 20. That is pretty early, as your level doubles every 48 hours or so. But even so, that is about 1 week before your period is due.

side note, we finally got the baby's room done. We'll take some pics and post them soon as promised!
