I gained a lot of weight. The doctor says that the baby is an average size so he isn't worried. He said my placenta produces more hormones than usual (which contributes to the weight gain) to make sure the baby doesn't come out before it is time.

Still he asked me to watch my pie consumption.

It just seems that different bodies handle it different ways and your body usually knows what it needs. So you may gain a lot or not, without trying to either way. I have a friend who gained 60lbs in her pregnancy. She started out very thin and to be honest it only looked like she gained a normal amount, like just the preggo belly, no fat. When she said 60lbs I was shocked, she didn't look like it, she is also tallish. So some ppl are fine gaining a lot.

I have been trying to not overdue it so I've gained about 18 lbs so far. I started out with extra weight so I am trying not to gain more than around 25 lbs overall.

Can't wait til Thursday! MMM!

I was too heavy when I got pregnant, so my goal is no more than 25 pounds. But we'll see...the holidays are lurking :innocent:

And in just 15 hours, we'll get our anatomy ultrasound  I REALLY hope the sonographer can give us an accurate assessment of the sex of our baby. We're terribly anxious to know.

There's no reason why you should (look bad *pfft*) or shouldn't (get back to your old size). Pregnancy isn't a metamorphosis, it passes!

With my last pregnancy, I dropped a lot of weight the whole time, then gained at the end, but I kept saying "I'm barely eating I don't know how I've gained weight". I left the hospital 21lbs lighter than when I entered, and I had a waist! lol It was brilliant :) The younger you are, the faster your body bounces back. Don't worry too much - plus if you're planning on breast feeding, that really helps you burn calories.

I do plan to breastfeed.

It is just impossible to imagine where all this weight will go. Well, I can always add some cardio if I don't look the same as before.

I gained 50!!!lbs in my pregnancy. I was back to my pre preggo clothes (size 4) after about three months (c-section, couldn't work out) and back to my weight after 6 months. When you are breastfeeding you can't really diet rather eat a lot (good food) but lose all the preggo weight. I lost about three lbs a week in the beginning and right after birth I was 15lbs less.
