Just thought I'd stop by to let everyone know that Sean Thomas was born march, 8th at 4:43 pm, 7lbs 15oz , 21". We had a 28 hour labour/delivery with some complications but what matters is that everything turned out just great. I am slowly recovering because of a 3rd degree tear, but things are really getting better. So far he's been a real angel and needless to say me and Eric are totally in love

Here he is... (L)

aww congrats!!!

In the past month, 2 of my close friends who are married, and one girl I know, have found out they are pregnant!! Now they really want us to have a baby too. We'd love to but just need to wait a little longer, since we are in the process of buying a house and need to settle in there, etc. And plus, it'd be better for me to wait awhile so there aren't so many baby showers so close together...we'd all go broke!!! :)

Married since 9-18-04(All K1 visa & GC details in timeline.)

first appointment.. you will have the ultrasound to date the pregnancy (in most offices). You will have a vaginal exam. They'll take blood work to test for various things. If you are around 18 weeks you will be asked if you want the triple screen (it tests for the chance of birth defects and abnormalities). Between 20 to 24 weeks you will have glucose testing done. They'll test your urine as well. Be prepared to bring pee in at every appointment from now on :P

I seriously recommend the book "What to expect while you are expecting" It is full of useful tidbits for first time mommy's like you :P It's been like a bible to me thru every pregnancy. "Oh I got this thing going on" RUSH to the book to see if it's normal :P It also tells you what your doctor will be checking at each appointment.

Thanks faith, your the best!

I wanted to get a book too, thanks for the suggestion....with all of the books out there, couldnt decide!

that one is the best I've seen. I have a book my doc gave me "while waiting" but it's so vague... it's not detailed like what to expect is.

and of course.. you can always ask around here when you have a question.... one of us can answer it I'm sure :P

faith is soo right that book is the best!! I got it for all my friends when they were expecting their first. They also have a web site as well, not as nice as the book though.

before you find out what you are having see if you fit these wives tales....

Slight bleeding when you brush your teeth..... boy

No bleeding when brushing .... girl

Sleep primarly on your right side.....boy

Sleep primarly on your left side .... girl

Both these are best thought about after the 16th week..

Both are true with this pregnancy of mine .. and of my first 2 children....

Do either of these ring true with anyone else????

Yes to the gums (no bleeding this time)

No to the sleeping (still prefer right side)

I third the opinion about what to "Expect While You're Expecting", it's been my bible all THREE pregnancies....I also have "Your Pregnancy Week by Week" which I enjoy.

"We are the real countries,

Not the boundaries drawn on maps,

With the names of powerful men.

That's all I've wanted -

To walk in such a place with you,

On an earth without maps."

no to gum bleeding

yes to right side.

i'm having a boy btw :P

Each week I also do a google search "pregnancy + _ weeks" insert your weeks pregnant in there. There's at least 10 good sites to go to that tell you exactly what's going on that week.

I'm glad it's not just me with the what to expect book :P
