You count the number of weeks you are pregnant from the first day of your last period, not the last day of your period.

yeah, that is what I meant... it was just a typo...

my point was that according to my period I am about 16 or 17 weeks but according to my last ultrasound I am only about 13 weeks...

i had the same problem.. D was due april 9th according to my last periode.. but the doc changed his due date 4x cuz he was to small on all the US.. but in the end he caught up with his weight and he was still 10 days over due (born april 19).. the baby is gonna come whenever he/she is ready anyways..

I registered for Medela pump, yes, it is freaking expensive but I was told it is worth it.

Christina, I am sure they have single unexpensive Medela pumps too. Baby ur Us has a good selection.

but this is 3 or 4 week difference.... and even according to the first day of my last period I would only be 15 weeks.... I have been thinking that maybe she meant that I would be 17 weeks at the time of my ultrasound

I rented a breast pump from the hospital... I think it was around 30 or 40 dollars a month...

Alot of docs change the date based on size. My doc keeps bumping my due date up because the baby is getting so big. He weighed a pound at 20 weeks. We only stuck with the LMP dating for the first couple of months. After that baby decided he wanted to set his own calendar. Some babies start out small and the doc pushes back the due date based on baby's size vs dates. Your little one may get a growth spurt here soon and you'll be recalculating all over again.

Marilyn,

I think it is the best to ask your doctor when you next see him. We all can guess here but only he can explain you what he meant.

ok, I just called the doctor's office and now I am even more confused

she said that I am 17 weeks....

she said that by the date of my period my due date would have been April 29th but after they did the last ultrasound my due date is now April 15th...

Then she said that as of September 8th I would have been 8 weeks and 3 days but then I mentioned that I had the ultrasound on the 28th and she said oh the doctor just forgot to put the 2 in there but it doesn't change anything...

but that is about a 3 or 4 week difference....:blink::wacko:

if I was 8 weeks on September 28th, wouldn't I only be about 14 weeks now??

am I just missing something here?

The way a pregnancy is calculated is very confusing

When my doctor told Luis and I that we were 7 weeks pregnant, and Luis had only been back in the country for 5 weeks, imagine his surprise!! The doctor quickly clarified the difference between gestation and LMP

so the gestation date is different?

because it says this in the report....

"a gestational age of approx. 8 weeks and 3 days"

The gestational age is how long since actual conception. The LMP age includes the 2 weeks prior to conception.

That's what I was told, anywho...
