Should I be worried? I am 18 weeks. I don't feel the baby kick and am not showing. I have to remind myself that I am pregnant. I have doctor's appointment next Wednesday. I am hoping that would relieve some of my worries.

Don't be worried. I didn't really show until 23 weeks and I felt the first kick at around 18 weeks so if you lay in bed and you really really focus then you might feel something that feels like gas but you are not really sure. THe kicks will get harder and in the end you wish Baby wouldn't kick anymore at all because it hurts a lot. Good luck, enjoy it.

I'm 17 weeks 2 days, and I haven't felt the baby move either, and this is my 3rd. I think it all depends on weight, knowing what the feeling is like, and every baby is different in there. I am positive thoguh you will start feeling the baby in the next 2-4 weeks ;)

Has anyone rented a fetal doppler to hear your baby's heartbeat? Luis and I got one, and it's so freaking cool

It's just like the ones used at our doctor's office and now we have the luxury of hearing our baby every day!!!

Hi Tracy,

That's very cool. We didn't rent one but it sounds like it was a good investment. Enjoy the beating of your baby's precious heart! It is probably helping to lift your spirits!

Luis and I love it...and my Mom, too. I'm finally starting to feel a little better. Not good, but better. So my spirits are much improved

I started feeling light twinges around 18 or 19 weeks, but nothing definite until at least 20 weeks. Now he's a spinnin' and kickin' like crazy. I think it was doodlebug who said she would get nervous about the baby not kicking, so she'd have some chocolate or a donut to make him/her wiggle and then wonder why she gained so much weight LOL!

Every woman's body is different and every baby is different. There is no set time for them to start making their presence felt. Before you know it, you'll be wishing he/she would give the soccer game a time-out! Wait 'till they start mashing on your bladder, ohhhhhhhhhh the agony!

I didn't feel any kicks until 20th week. The ultrasound showed that my placenta was on top of the baby and he wasn't strong enough yet to kick it hard for me to feel it through placenta.

Don't worry, you will get a good portion of those kicks later on! Mine kicks as soon as I am hungry. I guess he is hungry too.

I definitely feel for you, Marilyn. I'm at 15 weeks and still feel pretty crappy, but it's faded a bit.

Being pregnant is the hardest thing I've ever done!!!

My little booger does that too! What's up with that? His kicks get more and more violent if its been awhile since Ive eaten. As if he's saying "Send down some more spicy chicken mommy". Anyone else notice this phenomenon?

I do want to take some kind of class. But I am cheap and the only one I have heard about so far is $70. But I am going to keep looking.

I do plan on renting a video about lamaze from the library. To buy the video was like $30 but they had it at the library. So I am planning to try using lamaze. My mom used it for me and my sister, and my cousin used it, and both had good experiences and didn't use epidurals or anything. So I hope to have a natural childbirth. If my labor goes on really long or there are any complications, I won't be against meds, but I hope to avoid meds.

What about you? :)

Thru Kaiser Permanente (my healthcare provider) we have a class for the same price $70.00. I was hoping for a water birth but they only have showers where I plan to deliver...so I am looking into other methods. Where are you renting Lamaze? I'm gonna try and hold out as long as possible before asking for meds.

I havent taken any classes, although from what I've heard from various readings and anecdotes, if I WERE to take a class it would be Bradley. I understand the desire to want to avoid the drugs as long as possible, but I had an epidural with my son and I will definitely do it again this time. I was totally awake and aware and 'there' for the birth without feeling like it was all I could do to bear the pain...

my 2 cents :)
