Anna,

Congratulations!! God bless your growing baby boy!

bboy-0006.gif

Oh my goodness I can't believe how many boys there are! I keep in touch with a group at babycenter, out of the 7 of us there pregnant, 6 had or are having boys and one had twin girls.

Last year 3 of my friends had baby girls, so I was used to just hearing about baby girls. But this year is a lot different!

Married since 9-18-04(All K1 visa & GC details in timeline.)

Had my first screen today testing for the risk of Down Syndrome. It was SO freakin' cool to see my baby moving around inside of me. I hope he/she enjoys it now, because soon, there won't be so much room for the acrobatics ;)

Hope everyone else is doing well (L)

Thanks for all your support folks, I feel a little better now.

Besides, maybe he is using this degree as an excuse. Why do you need to wait to have babies until you have it? It isn't that he is going to college full time and he is 20 years old.

Many people get degrees and have babies at the same time, besides he isn't the one who will be pregnant after all.

I think that's the case. Anyway, I used to think the kids issue has to be talked over before marriage, but it seems men's brains work differently and respond poorly to any kind of pressure. I'm sucking it up for now.

Hi guys, I don't know if I belong here - I've been wanting kids for years (I'm 33 now) and was really happy when my fiance said he wasn't against the concept. But now that my interview approaches he is beginning to talk differently. He says doing a Ph.D. is really important for him and obviously my plans for kids have to be put on hold. I'm scared to delay. I know people have children after 35 but there are so many more risks and dangers. And who guarantees that he'll not change his mind again, after I have waited another 2-3 years.

Sorry for whining; I'm just very frustrated. Some words of encouragement would be very welcome.

This is probably not what you want to hear but...you simply cannot rush him to have kids when he is not ready. This can lead to sooo many issues once the baby arrives. You need to establish love and support and be on the same page before bringing a baby into the mix. I know you want a child really badly but having a baby changes EVERYTHING. If you both are up for having one then you can get through all those hard times. But if he doesn't want a baby then those hard times can lead to resentment and hostility and major regret. Yes a lot of people go to school and raise children but there are lots of struggles. And as I said before if you are both at that point when you are ready then those struggles can easily be overcome.

Well, good luck!

Try to talk it over before you come to the States. Try to find out what is really behind his reluctance.

My husband was worried that I would die in childbirth. I know it is irrational but it was a concern for him. But I assured him that with the modern medicine it was very unlikely to happen. It took him some time to digest everything and then he suddenly started noticing cute babies on the street. :) I knew he was ready. And look at us now! It all worked out.:blush:

Anyone else completely exhausted today?

ooh, me!

I can't complain too much b/c it was fun that made me so tired. I went quickly to a mall about an hour away with my sister on her midday break from work(split shift). My goal was to try on maternity clothes at Motherhood Maternity. Unfortunately I didn't find a lot in my size and some was just ugly or too professional looking. Why can't they make more cool inexpensive maternity clothes? I did get an outfit for $9.99 though!! A top and bottom. The bottom is shorts that are ugly and too short, but it was worth it for the comfy top.

But trying on clothes made me all sweaty and gross, and it's too hot still here in Florida. I can't stand it. So I got totally drained from rushing around the mall. I need to go get some groceries soon though I really don't feel like it.

Go to Old Navy! Super cute maternity stuff and very comfy! That's where I shopped during my final months because I still managed to fit into my regular clothes until that point. Shopping for jeans was super hard because the waist was okay but every other part was so loose. I opted for gaucho pants and cute old navy tops.
