Yes I have heard that too, but the cold cuts mainly from like the deli part of the store ...... the kind that is pre-packaged I thought was ok.....or at least that is what I told myself...LOL

Any way I will avoid hot dogs now I know... but I'm not happy about it!

I read on my pregnancy board that the risk from the packaged cold cuts is almost nil, I wouldn't

I have eaten hot dogs a bunch of times....uh oh.

I am avoiding undercooked meat, soft chesses, etc, but not going to stress over every single thing

I try to eat a lot better while I'm pregnant (i.e. not ordering medium cooked steak, avoiding the foods on the list, etc) because I know that all it takes is a small dose of bacteria to make me extremely sick, and I don't want that for my baby.

My doc has been delivering babies for many years (he delivered my youngest son as well) and I trust him. When he says "don't eat it" I don't eat it.

Here is some disturbing facts on listeria bacteria and the fact that pregnant women are more likely to get it and what it can do to the baby CDC report on Listeria

Hmmm, scary.

Luckily I don't really care for coldcuts, but like I said have eaten hotdogs, but they, of course are always cooked.

Better safe than sorry I suppose.

Didn't mean to upset you

FWIW this is the post I was thinking of, of course everyone's comfort zone is different:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some statistics that may help you determine the risk of getting listeria:

Food-related cases of listeria in the US annually: 2,493

Deaths from above cases: 499

The above info is from the CDC and represents annual averages. When you take the US population as of 2000 (approx. 281,000,000), it's an easy calculation. You as an individual have the following chance of getting listeria in a given year: 0.00089%, or 1 in 112,715.

When you also consider that there are over 40,000 deaths in the US annually from car accidents (and that's just deaths, not even injuries), it becomes quite clear that if you are going to worry about something potentially harming your unborn child, it should not be eating deli meat but driving to the store to get it!

I can't sleep either.

One, because I get up to pee probably every two hours or so, and two, because it's hard to breathe, my nose is chronically stuffy.

That pillow looks good, but not sure WHAT to do about the constant bathroom trips.

I know I have constant bathroom trips as well oddly about every 2 to 2 1/2 hours I think it is natures way of getting us used to getting up with the new baby to be  lol

Sadia, there is a wives tale that says if you sleep on your right it is a boy and if you sleep on your left it is a girl... sorry without going back to look, I can't remember if you know which you are having.

This wives tale worked with my first 2 kids.... so much so I was put on bed rest with my son and was told I had to lay on my left side and I had to force myself to lay on that side and at night I would wake up on my right every time. But with my daughter I laid on my left never on my right.. with this one I prefer my left... but have so much hip and back pain that I alternate sides all through the night.

I can't sleep thru the night anymore. If it's not the peeing it's the being uncomfortable thing. I use a regular body pillow, and that helps alot, but it just seems like turning over is such a chore anymore (feel like a beached whale!) that I wake up completely. And yes, it is nature's way of helping you get used to the constant waking of the baby.

You'll have to let me know how that pillow works.

As far as the peeing. I try to go pee 20 minutes before I'm going to bed, and then again right as I'm going to bed. That really helps to empty my bladder completely (try sitting forward, then backwards, just moving your bladder to empty it) so that I can sleep longer without waking up. There are times when I can make it thru the night, but if I wake up for the SLIGHTEST thing (to roll over, because I heard a noise, whatever) then I have to pee again.

It's just one of those things, ladies... we all try our best, but there is no solution other than giving birth to all these problems :P

yeah, i tried for that 30 day coverage too, but we made too much for it! :(

But the fingers are staying permanently crossed..!

My mom said we cant have the baby shower until after i have the baby! she thinks its bad luck to do it before the baby is born. poop....that means i have to buy stuff before hand, i was hoping i would get everything beforehand for free!

(barging in) Is that a Macedonian "thing"?

In the west (US, Canada), it's customary to have a gift "shower" BEFORE the event.
