I have an OB/Gyn. I would really to try a Doula for my next pregnancy.

in some hospitals you can have the best of both worlds and have a doula with you during labor & delivery with an OB/GYN... he/she could just help you through all the rest of your labor and be there to support during delivery... sometimes you might just have to call them something else besides "doula", as some hospitals might have legal issues with that term... you can just say you have a 'friend' you want to be with you in addition to your main support person

my OB instructor from nursing school was with me during my labor and delivery of my daughter... she arrived at the hospital 20 mins after i did and stayed until after i was moved to my room on the postpartum floor... 18 hrs... i wouldnt trade it for anything...

I due any day now and I still haven't decided on the epidural... I'm worried that my baby will be too sleepy after she comes out and the possible side effects will have on her... I also want to try breastfeeding (no one in my family has been successful at breastfeeding!) My doctor is going to induce me on June 3rd if she's not here on her own which also has me kind of worried.... I'm hoping she'll come this weekend!

@ Singers, it's good to see you around, glad to know that everything is going okay....can't wait to see pics of your lilttle one :luv:

As for me I had my glucose screen today, it sucked my appt. was at 10:30, I was late  and I didn't see the Doc. until 11:30....and I was STARVING :( I felt so guilty my poor son was rolling around, probably because my stomach was growling. They drew blood I drank some orange soda/syrup, I waited for an hour then they drew blood again. I couldn't wait to get to some food, it never tasted so good. They said they will notify if the results are abnormal, for some reason I thought I would get the results instantly. Well anyways Dr did the normal urine, blood pressure, listen to the heartbeat, and I was on my way. I have to schedule an U/S and see him in 3 wks.

getting pain meds thru your IV could effect the baby... but, an epidural will not make your baby sleepy...

@head size.. well i am pretty small too and my sons head (14.6in) fit through even though the doc said i am toooooo small down there.. well they cut me 2in but still..

(i pushed less than 30min.. and after they cut me he was out with 1 push..)

@epi.. TAKE IT!! its the BEST!! :secret: my epi was wonderful at the begining but then it faded and i felt everything on one side.. (belly to toes) and the other side was still numb.. but its no wonder my back is screwed up anyways..

(thats why it didnt work.. i guess..)

well i had my 5 week checkup today.. everything is ok.. BP.. urin.. blood.. got 99lbs.. everything is healed up and the doc gave me the 'OK' to have sex again..!! :secret: YAY!! and then she joked 'well not before sunday..' funny doc.. thats when we are flying home to DH..

I couldn't stand the glucose test! :dead: I had an orange flavored drink (they gave me a choice of fruit punch or orange) and I gagged it down in just under the five minutes. I literally had to breath deep breaths to keep it down. Once they had my blood drawn I ran to the nearest food place to get something to eat. Anything to balance out all that suger! Thankfully I passed with flying colors so I didn't have to do the 3 hour test. My sympathy to anyone that had to do that!

I went to the doctor yesterday and my doctor wasn't there. He was held up in an emergency c-section AND he hadn't done his rounds yet... with NINE women whom all went into labor the day/night before. Talk about crazy!

Needless to say the waiting room was pretty bare when I went in! lol.

I saw the nurse practitioner instead and she told me I'm 70% effaced and a couple centimeters dilated so I'm getting close! Last night I had some teensy contractions but that was it. I was hoping they would become something more but they didn't...

I'm glad everyone is happy and healthy with their pregnancies.. it is such a crazy and emotional journey... I can't imagine what it is going to be like once she's here... Eeeks!!

I would call your doctor but from what I've read some spotting isn't something to be alarmed about especially if you didn't have any cramping... if anything it is just good for them to know and can follow up on it in your next appointment.
