@Anne: CONGRATS AGAIN. I'm glad you two are doing good. My epi was wonderful and I didn't feel anything until they broke my water. That was about the time I was supposed to get some feeling back but I got into full blown labor pain withing 30 minutes and I was crying like a baby too. Luckily I had this nurse who was like "Honey...I know it fu*&ing hurts but I need you to pay attention to me"...

Anyway, Damion is a cutie. Have fun with him.

@Anna: Eric is in the Marine Corps and we are covered by TRICARE. We didn't pay a cent for anything and I'm glad we had our first one while he is in the military. They wouldn't do the 3D ultrasound for free. Actually they are not doing it at all in my hospital, they are trying to convince people not to do it at all since it's not good for the baby or so.

@churipu: Haha, you don't know how glad I was not to start laboring at 6am in the morning when everybody is trying to get on base and a usual 20 minute ride suddenly takes about 1 hour. We don't have snow here (Jacksonville, NC) but just the traffic alone is terrible and nervewrecking.

The DC area has horrible traffic at ANY hour of the day! But they induced me so I didn't get stuck in traffic or anything, that was my biggest fear!!

The 3D u/s not being good for the baby is crazy! I can't believe they were telling people that...I mean, they might be right I guess but I truly never ever heard that before. The only thing I heard is that they can be "dangerously misleading" since they might not reflect the true nature of babies, especially the brains therefore parents might think everything is fine when it's not and the other way around. Especially if they are performed by non experts (like those places where you go and pay getting a DVD and all...always best to check they are professionals since some places are just scam to make money). The guy who performed mine, dr Christian Macedonia, is actually one of the people who contributed perfecting the machine a long time ago, he actually was on TV about those conjoined twins that were eventually separated . He said he's been doing 3D/4D u/s for many years and that his child was the first he ever did it on.

I think they were saying that as an excuse because they wouldn't do it for free... not every hospital has that kind of equipment. Bethesda just happens to have a few machines of those on site.

Anyways...all the babies of this thread are adorable!! I can't believe mine is 14 months already...still not sleeping through the night! :crying::help::P

That's good to hear (well, not good for you though)...cause mine doesn't even think about sleeping through at night. He is grunting away, keeping me awake from 2 am until 6 am and then he finally falls asleep...on my belly..

Aaawww poor Eveline.... (F) Is he colicky or something? He is still very little, I am sure things will get better but I can only imagine how tired you must be... (F) Mine was really good when he was little and he was never colicky...he'd sleep and wake up once or twice at the maximum to be fed. It was hard only because it took him forever to complete his feeding sessions then. Now it's hard because we thought he'd be sleeping through the night and he still doesn't! But all our friends and co-workers who have kids, even older than ours, have the same problem for some reason...I think for us it's because we were in Europe for almost 6 months and my mom and dad didn't have a crib. The baby slept in my bed the whole time, so now he is not used to sleep in hiw own by himself even though we set it up in our room. He sleeps for 3-4 hours then he wakes up and the second or third time this happens he wants to sleep with us...what's improved is the fact that he falls back asleep kinda fast now, but still. :hehe: Many people told me it is because I still breastfeed him, so he goes and look for that as a comfort thing. Anyways...the joys of parenthood...

Anne, Adam used to sleep at night right after he was born but for some reason he lately started that grunting game...urrggg..

I didn't even wanna look "down there" for at least five days cause I was soooo swollen, I could hardly walk. Every doc who came in the room (while I was in labor) was like..."wow, you've done some serious pushing" My husband was scared when he looked "down there" during pushing, he thought something was wrong with me...

That is what I thought too. I was sooo ready for adam to be born but then the baby blues hit me. I didn't have that "OMG, the world got better" or "he completes us as a family and I fell in love with my husband all over again" moment. To me he was just work...work work work and he didn't give anything back (except for the diapers). Everytime he'd look at me mad, I started crying cause I thought he didn't like me and I thought everybody was a better mom than I would ever be. It was terrible, I was really looking forward to him being born and then that...

Now, eight weeks later I love being a mom. Adam started to smile and interact more. I got used to having him around and not being as spontaneous anymore. I love that little boy, he is the cutest people ever and I would do ANYTHING for him. (L)

Every doc who came in the room (while I was in labor) was like..."wow, you've done some serious pushing" My husband was scared when he looked "down there" during pushing, he thought something was wrong with me...

I had a 3rd almost 4th (I basically ripped all the way but for 1 mm of skin left there) degree tear...I could't walk without pain for about 2 months and the stitches took forever to dissolve (just to give you an idea, it took them 45 minutes just to repair me so I can only imagine how many they put there  ), so I really didn't look down there for about 3 or 4 months I think. Intercourse wasn't an option until not too long ago believe it or not...still now it feels a little tender. It sucked pretty bad but at least it's healed now. The first few weeks were really tough for me, I didn't enjoy being a mom too much just like it used to be for you Eveline, even though for me it was because I felt so bad physically...I am glad those days are long gone! I adore being a mom too now!

Anne, I am glad you can fit in your pre pregnancy clothes already! After a year I still have 10 stubborn pounds to shed, but as long as I like to eat the way I do I will never get back to my good old 127 pounds... BTW your baby is too cute!

Off to bed now...goodnight!

My friend had her baby girl just two days ago. She went for her 39 weeks checkup and was already 5cm and contracting. She didn't feel anything. They let her go home to get her stuff and when they approached the hospital her water broke and contractions set it. She was 8cm when she put her gown on and 40 minutes later her baby was born...I WANT A BIRTH EXPERIENCE LIKE THAT...I wonder where you can order that. And then they say thet the next baby will be there even faster, haha. She might as well stay at home and have it there

Haven't heard from Englishsammy in a while. How is she doing, does anybody know?

Just a quick question, IF you don't mind answering it....(and NO I'm not, btw...)

How many of you new mommies/to be were 35 or over when you had your baby? I will be 35 in July and it's still an option for us, but that really scares me.... we're undecided yet. M.

I personally was 29 but my best friend's sister had her baby girl at age 36 2 years ago and now she is pregnant again. Also my former co-worker when I was in my homecountry had her second child at 38. All turned out to be just fine, very normal pregnancies with no complications, just lots more testing to be on the safe side and mandatory (well you still can refuse if you really don't want it, at least where I am from) amniocentesis. I also heard (not sure it is actually true though) that the risk of genetic disorders in babies born from moms over 35 increases if it is actually the first child, I think I read you have a son already.

Good luck with everything you will decide to do. (F)
