@Savanphil: When they strip your membranes they separate the bag of water from your cervix with a sweeping motion of the docs finger. I didn't want them to do it because I heard that it hurts like crazy.

@Anne: I know what you are going through right now. All the best for tomorrow, if not, he'll be there Saturday (at the very latest)...Good luck

just from experience..... i know you want that baby out.. i felt that way with each of my pregnancies. But trust me, if your baby isn't ready you don't want him out! I was induced with my first son and he was ok, but I had a hemmorage and almost died (my BP was 60/30). With my second son I had him on my due date (just went into labor) but he had to stay in the hospital longer than me because his lungs had fluid on them (just happens sometimes when babies aren't fully ready). I remember how much I cried and worried when I had to go home without him. With my third, I had to be induced a month early because I had pre-eclampsia so bad that my liver and kidneys were shutting down. They had to put bumpers on my hospital bed because I could stroke or seizure out at any moment. Anyway, Jake came out PURPLE. It was the most horrible thing I have ever seen in my life. To this day we still worry about him because of that one moment. (plus remembering the nurse beating him with this rubber gadget to get his color in and breathing normal). You don't want to have to live with that seriously. I know it sucks, but give the baby the time he needs.... some of them are just stubborn and do not want to come out!!!! Good luck!

@Anne: Thinking about you today.

Adam was shopping with me all day today. He didn't say a word and completely slept through. Everybody is like "wow, I've never seen a quiet baby like that". All he does is grunt and sleep, haha. Well, those people have never been at our house between scream hours (6pm - 8pm)...that's when the 'magic' happens.

@faith: I totally agree with you. I wasn't ready but fortunately they got him out healthy with the c section. Sorry, you had to go through so much...

Anne--I hope you are the proud mama to a beautiful baby by now. I'm so sorry that you had your membranes stripped 3 times. I didn't even know they could do it more than once.

I made it out in the beautiful spring weather today all by myself with my two beautiful girls! This may sound like no big deal, but I live in a 2nd floor condo and it's not easy to carry two newborns up and down a flight of stairs by oneself. I've devised a system--one baby in front snugli and hold the other baby while I walk to the car where their seats (and stroller) are. All of this with the diaper backpack and my purse. I'm sure I look funny, but I was so proud of myself to figure this out.
