we are starting to look for ob/gyns under my insurance. the one that is nearest to the hous, ie the most convenient, is not 'board certified'. Is that like a really bad sign?

Daniel

:energetic:

Not only do you want to check for board certification but you also might want to check where they have admitting rights. Most ob/gyns have a hospital affiliation where they have 'rights' to admit patients etc. (ie the hospital lets them practice medicine there.) All the doctors I know with hospital affiliations are board certified.

So I guess the question is: If s/he isn't certified, where would s/he have you admitted when you go into labor? Or who would they 'hand you off to' at the hospital?

what a pain this is turning out to be!

ok, the doc isn't board certified. but yeah, he has privileges in a number of hospitals. one which is nearby. so i called yesterday, the recep says that I cannot make an appt for my wife. somethng about not disclosing medical conditions to anyone but the patient. yeah whatever.

so, my wife calls today, gives all of the info, then they ask her which office. the options do not include the office by the house. oh, and they wanted to give her an appt for april 25th!

is this normal?

bleah.

time to find another obgyn.

Daniel

Appt date being that far off is normal....everything else really depends on how much out of the way you want to go...

I would look for a different obgyn, the whole not letting you schedule the appt and all that is a bit weird to me

Naturalized! Yeah!

Hello all!

I had my 20 week ultrasound yesterday. And drum roll please! It is a boy. My husband is so excited. He knew it was a boy. My mom is a little disappointed because she wanted to dress up a granddaughter. It didn't matter either way for me, but I am a little relieved to not having to do a little girls hair. LOL. But, it would have been nice to have a mini me. Anyway, I can now pick out boys things. Yippee.

well girls i thought i update real quick.. (short story..)

i had some pain saturday evening after drinking my yummy castor oil cocktail.. the contractions came in right after 12am sunday.. they lasted for 3hours.. every min.. so i finally decited to call L&D.. well we went.. they hocked me up and monitored me.. i was only 2cm.. after lots of walking my contractions went down.. but after checking me again i was 4cm.. so they emptied my intestine.. NOT FUNNY AT ALL!! AUTCH!! :help: ohh boy did that hurt..!! well they though by doing that my contractions will come back.. but they didnt.. so they gave me a room so i could rest a lil.. but since my contractions totally stoped they sent me back home around 6pm (sunday).. and since then nothing happened.. besides that i lost my plug taht night.. finally..

so i went to my doc today and she was surprised that they sent me home with 4cm.. but she wont induce me.. she thinks that he comes onhis own.. well i bought more castor oil and i am gonna drink it again.. hopefully it works this time.. man i almost had him on my DUE date but i guess he got scared.. lol

Anne, wow, you really want that baby now, huh? I never wanted to do the castoroil. Just the thought of having belly cramps and the splatsssss scared the S&^t out of me (literally, haha). All the best to you. Hope your little one will make his way out soon.

@Kristy, congratulations. Your girls are beautiful and so big for twins. Sorry about the messed up Group B Strep outcome. Hope everything will be alright.

@Shayrene: YEEEEYYYY, another boy. congratulations. I bet you are very excited.

@Sammy: Don't worry about the weight gain. I gained 50 lbs all together. I didn't think I ate too much junk food or bad stuff but my body just put on every salad leaf I ate. Well, not to mention, that my peanut was close to 9 lbs to start with. NOw, six weeks after the birth I lost 37lbs and today I can start working out again and the rest of the weight should be gone soon too.

So I was right anne, they did strip your membranes. Oohhh, I think I would have killed my doc or at least yelled at her if she'd done that without me knowing about it. I just think it's so unfair. Did they group B strep test you? I really don't want to drive you nuts but I have read horrible stories about moms that were positive and got their membranes stripped. Babies can get infected in utero and often are born terribly sick or even dead. I know this must sound like I'm trying to panic you but it really upsets me when I read something like that. You give the life of your unborn baby in that doctor's hands and then he/she does something that can be so dangerous. Anyway, I hope everything is alright though. Hope he'll be here soon.

Heheheheh...haven't thought about this for a long time, but just after reading it I did again....Corey's original due date was May 12 (1993 this is..LOL) and then they changed it to May 22nd....I was very veryyyyyyyy (like all of you at this point!) ready to have him and when he still hadn't come on June 4th that was it..downed a whole bottle of castor oil in a glass of orange juice. :P No idea if it was coincidence or not, but I was on my way to the hospital about six hours later....22 hours after that, a bouncing baby boy!!

Congrats again to all the new parents and soon to be! :) M.
