My fiance (beneficiary from the UK) is currently 20 and will be 21 in November, we're around the time for our NOA2 and he is worrying that he might not get his visa due to his age and employment history.

I have told him before this won't affect us, but he wants to hear it from people with more knowledge in the subject haha.

He did complete 6th form college in the UK in 2007 which is an equivalent to the first 1-2 years of college in the US and then planned to go to Japan for a year afterwards, but instead we started talking a lot and he came to visit me instead, the rest is history etc. He lived off his savings during that time and since he has been home from the first visit he has been trying really hard to get a job. He found two jobs and was let down almost immediately because the companies quickly went out of business due to the economy.

Anyway, he thinks his age and lack of employment history are going to cause a denial at the interview, will someone please help me put his mind to rest?

Thanks :)

Has your fiance done any reading here on VJ? Most of his worries would be easily answered by investing some time here on the boards.

His employment and age (as long as he is of legal age to marry, which he is) are not issues. Most immigrants do not continue with their home country employers when they come to the US.

The beneficiaries employment history is not an issue.

It is your employment history that is important.

Yes, he does and he has an account. I think what he is assuming is they will not let him move here without work experience. As thought he won't be likely to get a decent job here without work experiences in the UK.

Edit: I have a job but it doesn't pay enough, I do have a co-sponsor though and that's all taken care of :)

He is over 18, that makes him legal to marry in ant state in the USA, which is the only requirement. You can scour the rules all day and there is NO age limit...NONE. The ONLY qualification is that you be "legally allowed to marry in the state where you intend to marry". The rules even make allowance for parental permission if required by the state, for 16 year olds for example. So, no, his age is not a problem.

His employment history, education and income have nothing to do with the process. Other than listing it on the G-325a which you already did.

No problems. Full steam ahead!

His age won't matter, though if you are significantly older than huim (say 35+), you two might face a few extra question at the interview to make sure you have a genuine relationship.

His employment history won't matter at all, what matters is that you can support him or have a co-sponsor that can.
