We will FINALLY be getting our place this week. It'll take some time and some work we want to do. Mostly painting and decorating.

Since I am foreign to this place...not really sure where to look? Back in Canada, I knew where to go...Leon's...Ikea...etc...

We went to Raymour and Flannigans yesterday...we are looking for a bedroom set, kitchen table...couch set and odds and ends like side tables and decor etc...

I like to get ideas and work from there...I see that Pottery Barn currently has a 'shore' beach theme...and I may get some nic nacs...but I find them expensive! I want to design our year round sun room with a 'Key West' theme...maybe our master bedroom with more of a victorian or French country look.

Any ideas on where to look for furniture or decor? I'm not a Pottery Barn or Ethan Allan person....just too expensive...I like Pottery Barn stuff, but looking to spend less.

I drove by a place called 'Klausnner' yesterday, anyone hear of it?

I also saw a fold down futton at Target for $170, for my sons play room, that was a good price.

I'm not one of those people who has to have the whole house match, and I like to do different themes in each room.

I saw the nicest light blue leather couch set at a place yesterday for our sun room...I'm picturing palm tree or bamboo accents in the room...I love that look!

Any ideas on places for furniture or accessories is welcome!

Thanks guys :)

From what i've heard and read Target is a great place to go to. I know down in Chicago they have these Walmart Supercentres that have a whole lotta stuff too.

They must have some sort of Brick / ikea type places too. I'm sure one of the other girls can let us know :P

You can get some great stuff at Target. Also, if you check the home decor aisles in Ross and Marshalls you can periodically pick up some really unique pieces for not much money. World Market has some great stuff also. My favourite home decorating store, however, is Z Gallerie?.

Okay... I know not why there is a question mark after "Gallerie" that I can't get rid of. Let me just say that this is not a question.

Your nautical or beach theme can be found at places sometimes like Michael's, or Hobby Lobby. They also have coupons, either in flyers or on-line that can reduce your cost by 40%, once a week for a non-sale item. I don't know if they have them where you are. Pier 1 is also a great place to find one of a kind items. Our K-mart is awesome here, with lots of home decorating items. I'm not a big fan of our Target here, at least for home items. So much depends on where you live, and I can't remember where you are living now!

Yeah, it definitely depends on the store and where you live. We have the most amazing Target here, but I've been to some Targets that have reminded me more of a rummage sale than a store.

Oh! Burlington Coat Factory has some unique home decor items. Not all the time.... it's kind of like Ross and Marshalls in that respect. You have to keep checking back to see what's new.

When we moved into our place, I spent about $1500.00 at target getting lamps, pictures, etc. I definetely can't afford to shop at Pottery Barn. Their stuff is lovely, though.

Also, we have a Home Goods close-ish by. I love the variety of stuff you can get in those places.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

For beach themed type items you might want to look at Bealls

They ship all over the U.S. and you might want to sign up for their promotional emails as they have free shipping a lot and also 10-15 percent off sales.

Yeah I went to Ikea on Saturday, it's right past centre city off the I-95 Poprocks! They have such nice things for a fair price too. They have alot of nice beach photos that come framed, I got a few of those

I've never actually seen the furniture here, but when we get our apartment we plan to check out this store. The prices seem a bit too good to be true...

I went to this place yesterday: http://www.worldmarket.com/home/index.jsp and thought it was pretty cool! It has a lot of eclectic pieces and things from other areas of the world, if you're into that kind of thing. There was a lot of really nice pieces!

I've also learned about Furniture Row (http://www.furniturerow.com/), which seems to be very similar to like a Leon's in Canada. Its a chain that started here in CO, and is now all over the country. My in laws got a new bedroom set from them this week and its pretty sexy! It has an old world sort of feel.

I don't know if you'd be able to find either of these places close to you but its just a thought!

Bed Bath and Beyond might have decor items and such, I would assume not any furniture though. I hear they have nice stuff! We have shopped at both Wal-Mart and Target for things but Target is definitely better! My fiance went to Bed Bath & Beyond last week to get some throw pillows for the couch...I must say he did a good job picking them out! (All I saw was the pics) He said he felt really girly (gay) going in there and actually purchasing the pillows...I had a good laugh at him.. We watch too much HGTV together...and when we are apart!

Now if only I could get him to go into a lingerie store with me....it still hasn't happened!

That's funny! That is where I got ALL my furniture for our house. We furnished the entire house for $4,000.00. ( Couch, love seat, coffee table, chaise, end tables, dining room table & 7 piece bedroom set.)
