High school was fun, but wasn't anything that defined who I am (disagree with you Steven on that).

Steven's wrong about a lot of things. That's why he's my homey, we got that in common.

Congrats! I saw people congratulating you so I assume it's called for. Visa? Pregnancy? Lottery?

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

As I am today....I was hip, marched to my own drum and live(ed) a loner lifestyle.

Me too, Nagi

I marched to my own drum and was somewhat of a loner. I was an artist (still am) so had a lot of respect from my peers for my abilities, but I was always aware that I wasn't part of the 'in crowd'. Highschool focused on a lot of self-explored creativity for me - drama, art, spirituality - plus I was a good student. Most of my interests, however, were outside of school time - I was horse-crazy and spent many hours at the stables or hanging around with friends who were older. I was never a 'belonger' - am still not, although I am comfortable in both worlds.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I agree with what Nessa said about the education here in Brazil. Obviously, I didn't go through it, but I talk to a lot of my students and they all seem to agree with you Nessa. It's quite interesting actually. One of the schools that I teach in is in a really nice area, everyone is really rich and has everything they want. The kids there seem to have less complaints about the schools (they still complain, but not as much), and another of my schools is in a very poor area of São Paulo. My students there are always talking about how they don't even have a chance at getting into the public universities and they can barely afford to pay for the public ones. Most of them are working really hard themselves to pay for it all and to pay for their English lessons with me. We talk about the American vs. Brazilian education system a lot and when I ask for pros for the Brazilian system they usually can't give me more than 1 or two. They think it's really awesome that we get to choose our classes in the US.

To the OP:

I don't really know what I was either. I had my own group that I hung out with that didn't go to my high school, but another high school near my town. I dated the same guy all through HS (who went to the other school) and we together had our own group of friends. At my HS I really only had one or two close friends. But I was in all the honors classes, AP classes so while I was actually at school I hung out with that group (the popular group) but I never went to their parties or did anything with them after school...so I don't know where that puts me.

I didn't go my senior year though (I took classes at the University of Georgia for college credit that year) cause I'd already took all of my requirements. I didn't like taking electives like team sports because all of the really annoying ignorant kids were in those classes and they annoyed me too much. So I took all of the academic classes that my high school offered (for example, we were only required to take either human anatomy or chemistry, but not both, and I took both, just for fun). And I took Physics, which also wasn't required....ect, ect.

I didn't really like high school that much. I didn't hate it, but I wouldn't want to go back!

And to the person that said they wanted their kids to drop out at 16. My friend did that (she had the highest SAT score in our class) and she graduated from Law School at the same time we were all juniors in college.

I was the music freak. I drove to Hollywood to go record shopping with all of my friends. We all went to the Hollywood Palladium to see The Jesus & Mary Chain w/Social Distortion as the opening act. I drove to Long Beach to Fender's Ballroom to see Punk shows, but by my senior year, I discovered Experimental/Industrial music & told everyone about groups like The Legendary Pink Dots, Chris & Cosey, and Laibach.

mmm I guess I was a loner. I had a couple of closed friends, a long term relationship, and thought the rest of my class mates were actually kind of shallow

I somewhat agree with Steven. We moved around alot and I got tired of trying to make friends and whatnot so I became a loner. These days I wouldn't say im a loner but I have no desire to do alot of social things and would perfer staying at home. I think that has alot to do with my high school years.

I wouldn't let it dictate how you live now though. I was a real procrastinator and somewhat of a slacker in HS. I know I have these tendencies to this day. It's a constant effort to fight through them.

I agree, I try not to let them dictate how I live now and its a constant effort to fight through them. Procrastinating is a big one for me.
