hi evrybody, this is the second time i post about this question, sorry but none answered me , i did the Ar 11 application online to chamnge my address , am the benificiary and am under Aos process. the USCIS website says that to change ur address u need 2 differents steps and u have to complet them both here is what it says exactly.

2. Non-U.S. Citizens

If you have moved, you need to follow two different steps:

Step 1: File a Form AR-11 (This changes your address in our master database.);

Step 2: If you have a pending case, you must also file a Change of Address online or call our National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283. (This changes your address for the specific application you have submitted.)

Please note that if you are a non-U.S. citizen and you have a pending case, you must complete both steps to make sure that you comply with the regulations and so we can reach you at your correct address.

i sent the Ar 11 online , so what am supposed to do to complet the second step? these 2 steps seem the same no?.

My wife petitioner is filling the 865 application,there is a question asking if she has a pending case, do i answer yes or no? caus i think the Aos is just for the benificiary.she didnt fll any application besides the sponsor form.

Thank you for any advise.

If you complete the online AR-11/Change of Address - you do not need to mail in the paper version - further reading of the instructions will show you:

"If you choose to use this online electronic change of address notification, please do not mail in a Form AR-11. On the other hand if you choose not to use this online tool and instead choose to mail in a paper Form AR-11 please understand that doing so will not update your address on any applications or petitions pending with USCIS"

Why these instructions contradict each other is a mystery - but I've never heard of anyone (my wife included) to have an issue by only completing the online AR-11. That's what I recommend. (You may print the completed electronic form and keep it for your records.)

The I-865 does not ask about a 'pending case' - check to be sure you're using the correct form. :thumbs:

Just reviewing the form (again) - no where on it does it question having a pending case - only reference (besides the sponsor's name, old address and new address etc) is "Information on Sponsored Immigrant" (i.e., name and A#).
