Hi,

I have quetion I hope you will help me find an answer for. My US wife is going to file I-130 petition on my behalf. Do we have to submit my birth certificate or it is enough to send copy of my passport at this stage? I read the official I-130 instructions and it's not stated to submit binficiary's birth certificate while some websites put it in the checklist. I'm confused.

Please help!

i submitted mine.so u will not lose a thing for doing that.you know it is like some people say data pages of your passport and sometimes full pages...so i submitted full pages for previous visas

Thank you for your post. I think that is wise but as for my situation getting a birth certificate from my country will take few weeks so I'd rather save time instead of waiting for something not a must.

It's called planning, after dating for a year, we were 100% sure we wanted to spend our lives together so found the best immigration attorney to guide us. Had typos in my wife's 13 old daughter's birth certificates that had to be corrected, divorce, all medical records, police reports, old marriage certificates, that I-693 that was a pain and and expense, and all this stuff had to be translated. We did all this before we tied the knot, and for awhile, it looked like we weren't going to be able too. But our strong love for each other pulled us through this crisis that also proved our love for each other.

Not exactly like marrying the gal or guy next door that we both had done with disastrous results. But for the AOS, we flew through that, had everything they asked for. We even had a plan B, if the USA wouldn't have her, would find a country that would. Seems like most of the problems here is not planning ahead.

Hi! Need help on Birth Certificate

I lost my birth certificate and had only the copy of it, even in that my name was different, to make the problem worse it was issued five years after i was born.

I submitted the copy of the birth certificate with an English translation and a bonafied certificate stating that i am using my present name, i did not submit any letter stating why it was applied after five years for the I-130 , now my interview is on 6th August.

I applied for a new certificate and got it, can i now submit the new one with a new bonafied letter, or what should i do, please help.

Bring that in plus all of your other original documents with you on your interview. A lot depends on your IO, one may not even want to look at them, an other with a fine tooth comb, we had both. The rule is, if you bring them in, they won't want to look at them, if you don't, they will want to look at them. Also make sure you walk out with all of your originals, some of those are next to impossible to replace.
