Soccer is a good way when talking to Americans to distinguish between the two, I know I know the rest of the world is pissed cause they think we hijacked there word but get over it.

LoL, such a stereotypical American attitude to have. I refer to the two sports as Football, and American Football. Simple enough.

How is it stereotypical, because we dont see the point in mentioning that its football when the word soccer has already been used and you know what im talking about? I just dont get why when we say soccer many people outside the states feel the need to say no its football. Seems stupid to me. We say soccer because football has another meaning to us, its not rocket science.

Football and Soccer seems more simple than football and american football, less characters and syllables.

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

The stereotypical attitude was the "yeah, I know it's used by everyone else in the world as a term for another sport, but we use it this way, so just deal with it world".

Just because it's simple doesn't mean its right. Why call it football to begin with? It only touches a player's foot maybe a dozen times versus how many times it does a players hands.... sounds counterintuitive to me.

I don't like DM to save my life, but I will say that he is one of the greatest players that ever walked this earth.

I saw Diego play back in the 86 world cup. The man glided through the grass (and later on he smoked all of it :P )

Yeah, he was wild to watch - almost couldn't believe that someone could move like that on grass.

I said get over it, not deal with it. I said that because its just seems silly to keep telling us its not soccer its football.

So by your logic how is calling it American football any better with the word being counterintuitive? Doesnt that make you just as bad as us Americans(calling it American football), lets call it throwball  I dont know the history to why we called it football and we could of came up with a much better word but it is what it is and thats not going to change. Im just saying your life will be alot less stressful if you just give in and not correct us everytime we say soccer.
