Hi Everyone,

I am somewhat new to this process, and looking for some guidance from residence here.

I am a US citizen and looking to file CR-1 for my wife. What is the best way to go about this? I have some specific questions:

1. Do you recommend filing K3 as well? From what I have read so far, K3 and CR-1 are pretty much approved around the same time, and K3 does not initiate a faster journey.

2. is there a guide out there for a faster processing? i.e. online fee payments, e-mail choice of agent instead of mailing?

3. Additional preparation I can do now to expedite the process, and obtain a faster approval?

4. Did you send affidavit of bonafide marriage? Is it really required?

Yes K3 and CR-1 are approved around the same time, after you received the NOA2 for K3 you could schedule the interview right away, after receiving NOA2 for CR1 everything goes to NVC for visa processing and they will be the one who will schedule your interview, don't worry NVC works fast, approximately 3-4 weeks for visa processing, after case completion at NVC, interview usually occurs 1 1/2 -2 months depending how busy the embassy is

CR1 has an advantage over K3 since with CR1 your wife will receive 2 year greencard rightaway and less expense also

You could read on the guide here, look for NVC flowchart and read on James shortcut and Lingche NVC shortcuts

we did not send affidavits affirmed by 3rd properties having knowledge of our relationship, we submitted documentation of co-mingling of financial resources as proof of bonafide relationship

read on the guides, if there's any further question feel free to post

MY ANSWERS:

Q1. For me, I recommend you filing for CR-1 based on what i've learned from most people here. They almost have same time processing but with CR-1 you can cut the cost and the beneficiary can work sooner if she wants.

Q2. Here's the linkLingChe Shortcut that really help us with our process.

Q3. Just submit the required and necessary documents they need. Be meticulous in answering the forms. If you have some doubts...post it here ;)

Q4. In my case, yep we sent them an affidavits of bonafide marriage since we don't have any other evidence like joint bank account etc. that they were asking.

Last but not the least....Keep your faith in God that everything will go smooth and that He will give you morestrength and patience for this whole process. Goodluck on your jouney!

This will help you with the initial filing process as well as explain what you need and what you should do after filing. This process is about patience so unless you have extenuating circumstances then just be patient, we hope for a speedy approval for you.

I do not recomend filing the K-3 right now, it is an obsolete and, in my opinion, an inferior visa. Follow the guides and don't worry about the choice of agent yet, you get that after the USCIS stage.

Good luck.
