Four months ago I called the uscis telling them that my one year extention will expired in August and the lady told me that my one year extention is good for a year and I don't have to worry about my status, because I told her that it's been more than 6 months and still not receive my 10yr GC. She then told me that the processing takes a year not 6 months and their system has problem from the backlog. But until now, I still don't have my 10yr GC. I'm getting worried. I tried to call them again this month but there's no way I can speak to a live person, so I made an InfoPass today and my appointment will be on July 10th. Hopefully I'll get another extention or the 10yr GC.

Any one of you here is on the same status?

Nothing to worry about but for documentation purposes better to get an I-551 stamp on your passport. Make sure your passport is not expired or expiring. That stamp is useful for renewing drivers license and other documentation requirements. Also, on the 13th month after filing send a letter to the ombudsman. find one of my posts under DNALERI, it has info on how to reach ombudsman. I got my green card after writing to the ombudsman for help. We waited 16 months.

Good luck!

Yes, if I were you make an Infopass appointment so they can look at your case.

For me, I have tried many times to call the uscis before making an Infopass but I could not talk to a person so I decided to make an Infopass. I'll keep you updated when I get back from my appointment on July10th.

Thanks for all your reply :)

Guys, why not contact your representative - they have direct line with the USCIS and usually get better responses than if you call the mis-information line or do the INFOPASS. I'd still do the info pass but also contact the congressman.

Hi Leah,

Read this post, Like milimelo said, contact your senator. I mentioned there how.

Since your NOA or 1st extension will expire in July- August, please make an infopass which is appointment with a IO (Immigration Officer) to a nearest USCIS field office.

https://infopass.uscis.gov/info_en.php

Will tell you the field based on your location.

On the 1st page choose "You need Service on a case that has already been filed " and then on the next page choose "If it has been over 45 days since you contacted NCSC and have not received a response to your inquiry. You must bring the Service Request ID Number related to your inquiry to the appointment."

Go to Info pass appointment before appointment time (10-30 mins) and ask the IO (Immigration Officer) that you applied for I-751 and didn't get approval yet and your 1st extension is about to expire and would like I-551 stamp on your passport.

He/She will take your 2 Yr. GC and will give you a 1 year stamp of I-551 on your passport.

Please try to make the appintment at least 2-3 weeks before your 1st extension expires.

Good Luck. Let us know how things went for you.
