Touched???

Hello,

I was curious regarding this word I see often "touched" on peoples timline on the posts. Why is this used so frequently?Do you mean USCIS actually posts updates. What does it mean by "touched"?

every time your case file is opened, even for change of address etc., its barcode is scanned... that means TOUCHED.

when it is TOUCHED it automatically updates the online records

We use referring to when your last updated date changes but not your status (on the USCIS website).

I saw the update and it changed to 6/03/09. Is being "touched" a good thing?

If you did nothing to make it get touched it usually means they are working on it, can be good or bad.

Set up a login on the USCIS site and check your account for an updated date.

Some folks go through the entire process without seeing a touch and never even receiving a change in their status. Their fiancé's have already arrived in America and it still says 'Received and Pending.' In other words, it's not the most reliable system. However, from my own experience the updates coincided with events like NOA1, NOA2 etc. for mine.
