I am planning on taking my (then) husbands last name after we get married.

Anyone who knows how this works since we are getting married in the US?

Should we still file the I130 paperwork under my maiden name because that´s what it´s still gonna say in the passport that I have then?

Hopefully the questions made sense or that you all understood what I mean..

05/11/10 : Interview - APPROVED!!
05/14/10 : Passport w/ Visa recieved

05/29/10 : POE JFK
06/25/10 : Apply for SSN
06/29/10 : Received Welcome Letter
07/01/10 : Recieved SSN (33 days after POE)
07/07/10 : Greencard production ordered
07/13/10 : Second Welcome Letter recieved

What type of visa are you getting? You mention getting married in the US so are you filing for a K1?

I got married in Senegal and took my husbands last name. I came back home and changed all my documents including my passport, social security card and driver's license. THEN I filed the I-130 paperwork for the IR1/CR1 visa.

How are you getting to the US to get married?

We are filing for a CR-1 visa after we get married in the US.

I´m travelling in on my touristvisa,under the visawaiver-program and then travelling back to Sweden after the marriage.

So I have to wait with filing the I130 ´til I´v come back to Sweden and changed my name there?

Is it possible to change my name later ( after I´v received the visa) to his?

you can change your name anytime so long as you have your marriage certificate.

In the I-130, there's a space there asking what other names you have gone by. USe that to put in your maiden name.

My husband and I got married in the Philippines and he asked me to changed all my IDs including passport into his last name because He put my married name in the application so there will be questions asked why this is in maiden and why this is married name. Better to be safe than sorry dear. Hope it make sense

06-02-09: Chicago Lockbox received the package

06-08-09: CSC received the package

06-13-09: NOA1 received

10-19-09: Hubby's second visit in the Philippines

11-10-09: Hubby's flight back to USA

11-13-09: Approval notice sent via SMS and email

NVC Journey:

11-19-09: Case number assigned

11-30-09: AOS bill and DS 3032 from NVC received

12-01-09: DS-3032 returned via email

12-03-09: DS-3032 hardcopy sent via FEDEX

12-05-09: Paid AOS BILL

12-07-09: DS 3032 hardcopy received by J. Desmond

12-15-09: IV BILL generated

12-19-09: Paid IV BILL

12-22-09: Sent AOS package

12-23-09: AOS package received by J. Desmond
