Hmmmm, I put other on the first bit 'cus I do a bit of several things. I tend to put both hands at 10-2 if I need to maneuver a narrow street with lots of car dodging and then as I reach a highway or otherwise empty clear road my hands start slipping to 9-3 and down until I actually have them lightly placed together at 6 o'clock, where they remain until I need to change lanes or anything that needs attention.

I also tend to steer with only one hand specially after I do a turn where I end up leaving my right hand on the 10 position, meaning that I keep my arm across the wheel. So it changes a lot, but I do revert to a more "proper" 10-2 if tensed (as in early morning with bad visibility, at dusk with bad visibility, rainy weather, crazy drivers doing ####### around me, highways when trucks are trying to be race cars, etc).

Things I do: Drive with one hand; rest left arm on window; rest right hand on shift stick (bad habit, I know); drink water/soda; speed (depends on several factors);

Now, I will sometimes drive slower than speed limit IF: It's late, I don't feel like arriving home and the roads are empty (using the road to think).

I will sometimes drive on the left lane even if the right one is empty IF: the roads are empty, nobody is behind me trying to pass me, I'll make a left turn somewhere down the road.

I will sometimes driven while intoxicated but never when drunk, which is different imo, but probably above legal limit (2 beers will put one above the legal btw), although in my teen years I have driven drunk. Stupid teenagers. Funny thing though, when my brother drove drunk he'd be the fearless "I'm a badass" driver, thinking he was even better. I always knew that it was a big no no and would usually drive real slow, stopping at all lights, looking 10 times at each crossing, etc. My fear of crashing (hurting myself, others, facing the parents) was too big. I've never been even close to an accident while driving drunk, and whenever possible I'd get someone else to drive my car for me.

About seatbelts, well, in Brazil until the cops actually started fining people from driving without them on, everyone I know and me included would drive without them on, it wasn't a big rule until much later than in the US. So now, yes, I do buckle up first thing every time, although I still find it annoying if I'm going to the corner without even entering a major busy road. Still, I wear it (not in the farm though).

About lights, I ALWAYS run yellow lights, although I don't simply run through the same way I would if it's green, I pay attention that other people are not crossing the last seconds of the red light on the crossing intersection. I run red lights if it's 3 am and I can't see a single car for miles in any direction.

have sex while driving

When Amby answers this poll, expect the count on this one to rise.

I don't have a death wish. Actual sex while driving is not something I'd ever attempt. I've done other things just not full blown sex. I enjoy living.

Alcohol improves my reactions, so I usually drink *before* I drive - not while driving, because that would be dangerous!

LIES!!!! Your driving is terrifying when you're sober! I still don't believe this better reactions after drinking thing...I don't care how many times you tell me it's true!

Come on... my driving was better driving *from* the restaurant than *to* the restaurant, was it not?

Hmmm...I was so tired I don't remember much from that night. I suppose it was less terrifying or I was so tired I just didn't care anymore. I will blame part of the terror on having no clue where the hell we were going and the insanely tinted windows in my car.

Oh but your driving didn't scare me the first time and I guess you had drank that time too. Maybe you're right.

In Houston, at least before the advent of the infernal red-light cameras, the typical understanding has been this: "Green means go, yellow means go faster, and red means three more cars." I personally admire the skills and attitudes of the taxi-drivers in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

here's what i do:

1 hand 3-4 or 9-8 most of the time. 1 hand bottom every now and then; i never hold the wheel with both hands like 10/2 for example. when i keep them both on the wheel, one is usually on 9 or 3, depending which hand i'm driving and the other is resting on the bottom just in case i need to use both hands for something.

I hold the wheel mostly with my left hand.
