Captain,

I just thought of this while trying to find a specific post in a very thread - can you add in the Options Rollout, filters where you can view only the post made by a specific person? Or if it would be easier, add it as an option under the person's name rollout? It would really be helpful when trying to find a specific post. :)

Nice idea.

We are going to be upgrading the entire forums within a month most likely. MAJOR changes (all for the good), so hang in there for that and with any luck this will be included.

Can't you do this now anyway?

All you have to do is click on the members name and there's a 'find member's posts' link in the menu.

yeah that is what I was thinking

No, not the same thing.

I understand what Steve is saying.

Suppose I'm looking for a certain post in a long thread... "Say Anything", or "n00bz", for example.

And I know who wrote it.

I can open the thread from the top, and start searching.

Or I can open the poster's "find member's posts" and start.

But Steve is looking for the intersection.. all posts by Poster A on thread T. ... should be a trivial SQL statement ... select * from <table> where poster="A" and thread="12345"

c'mon man, we can do this!

Yes... I thought the question was, find all posts by a person in a given thread. Easy MySQL statement but it would require hacking and modding the forums -- just to have that undone in a few weeks. That said, I can include a link to "find all posts by a member" in the drop down. That is not an issue.

Dang, this would have been so cool, as sometimes I know the poster in a thread and what to look back and it is impossible especially if the thread is at like post count 2000. Same as going to the member post section have to wade through miles of posts sometimes. Hmm maybe something else will pop up.

Why is it that the only one who can stop the crying is the one who started it in the first place?

Yeah however in the find member posts when the member is a poster ( many posts in a day ) sometimes it is hard to sort through all the posts that are there to find what you know is actually there somewhere, but here also the search inside the forums works ok if you can remember the key words :)

Little trick that may help:

In the main forum view there is the "Replies" column. Click on the # of replies (there is a link). It will list all the people that posted in the topic and have links to all their profiles.

The only poster with anything truly worth saying is me, so all you really need to do is ask what it was I said, and I'll be glad to help.
