Hi, My conditional green card has run out, and I never received an update, however at the time just before I was supposed to receive the removal of the conditional status I had to return to Germany for other reasons, My mother received hers (I was under her visa) but I never did. I'm not exactly suffering as I have a life over here as well, but I am wondering what is going to happen to all the data and my school courses, HMOs, etc when it is now expired, does it autmatically get erased or what, and for traveling do I now have to apply for a regular touristvisa?

Thanks In advance\

From what I understand, if your greencard has run out and you have no NOA or passport stamp extending your status, you will have to begin from square one. Usually people apply for the I551 stamp in their passport if their green card is about to run out and they have received no NoA. Your situation is much harder if you are now in Germany.

Not sure about what will happen with school courses, etc.

And for traveling, yes, you will now have to apply for a tourist visa, unless, as I think is the case, Germany is part of the Visa Waiver Program.

Johannes, Johannes, Johannes . . . .

what were you thinking? Where you thinking?

That said . . . there's a slight chance that you simply didn't receive the NOA with the extension letter. So if it has been issued, you may get lucky, eventually. But do you want--and are you even able--to return to the US right away?

Do this: go to Amerika-Forum.de and become intimately familiar with the issues Germans have to even get a B1/B2 Visa these days, especially since the WV program doesn't require one. You might have to come in with a VW and take care of things once you're here again. Then, ask those guys but take their advise with a grain of salt.

Unless I missed it, I don't know what your educational status is. An Associate degree equals the German Abitur. You can always request school transcripts, even by mail.

Same applies for college credits, although the educational systems are as different as it gets.

Give us more details, if applicable.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

What do you mean "I was supposed to receive the removal of conditional status"? Do you mean that you expected that USCIS would remind you to apply to remove the conditions? Or, do you mean that you DID apply but left before you received any news on its status?

All your data (that you mentioned) is still there - not sure anything happens to it.

As for the rest of what you're asking - it all really depends on what you mean by 'never got yours'...

If you could be more clear - others might be able to help..
