Cancelled Biometric Appointment

It is late, and when I got home today, we weren't so lucky to receive a new NOA with the biometrics rescheduled appointment. I will call the incompetent operators at the USCIS to get a laugh, for we all well know this people are clueless about anything that happens to us. No wonder we have so much immigration problems and people entering illegally in this country.

I guess all the incompetent USCIS employees decided to take a week off to celebrate the 4th of July, and thus all the cancellations right a week after this coming weekend. Anyhow, and as I said, I will call them to see what stupidity I can hear from them.

I will post here any progress about my stepson's biometrics appointment.

Ciao!

Thanks. I guess if we don't a NOA with a rescheduled appointment soon (today or tomorrow), my stepson can try to do a walkin, say this Wednesday. As I remember my wife's biometrics, we went there and the place was just empty that day. I don't think there are too busy and all these cancellations were because USCIS employees wanted to take all together a week off right after the 4th of July.

Ciao.

that's exactly what I was thinking about .... since there is no obvious reason it must be it. Above I wrote about walking in on next Monday (07/06/09) ... well wasn't sure, now cannot edit post so decided to post again. It seems that really they all will be closed for the whole week following 4th of July.

My wife is about to try walk-in on tomorrow. will post back. good luck to everybody!

Yes, indeed. My stepson's appointment is or was scheduled on 7/10/09. As I said before, all the incompetent USCIS employees want to take a week off right after the 4th of July. I guess that since the 4th of July falls on a Saturday, a day which USCIS is not open for business, it was decided that as a matter of revenge all employees are entitled to extend the holiday for a full week.

Definitely if we don't get a re-scheduled appointment NOA today, I will ask my wife and her son to walk-in and see if they can do the biometrics ahead of time. Again, as I said before, they are just taking our tax dollars and doing nothing like when my wife went to do her biometrics and she was the only soul in the whole building doing this process. What a waste of tax payers' money, not to mention the feed we all pay to have this done.

Ciao!

Somebody asked for this: Yes, I just walked into the office without having an appointment that day. But I am lucky that I live very close to the office. So it wasn´t any problem at all. I just said that I have the appointment another day but that I was wondering if I could do the biometrics today. The officer said that they usually don´t do that but that they are not very busy right now and that I could just go ahead and get my biometrics done.

So I got my biometrics done two weeks ahead of the scheduled appointment.

But I don´t know if the cancelation of my previous appointment will have any effect on the processing of my case.

Hi! Just wanted to let you know that my appointment for July 8th also got cancelled. I already did a walk in on Wednesday. Very cuirous to find out what all this is about.

Did you actually walk in to have your biometrics done? It is not clear if this can be done in California, but if someone has done it, please, post. I will tell my step son to do the same this week to see what happens.

Hi,

I did a walk in in San Diego, CA. My appointment was also scheduled for around 9th July (I think) but I walked in last week. As long as you have an appointment letter from USCIS (date of appointment doesn't seem to matter) you seem to be able to walk in. It wasn't very busy and I was in and out within 15 minutes.

Paul

It seems to have a similar experience when we did my wife's biometrics a few long months ago. I will try a walk-in tomorrow if my stepson does not receive a new NOA with a new appointment. Thanks.

I just want to state here that I did call the USCIS to inquire about the cancellation, but all in all it was a waste of time, for my stepson is an adult, and the operator almost did not want to talk to me at all. I explained that I was at work, and this was the only available time (USCIS available time) when I can call, and my stepson, who is an adult (he is 20 years old), was not present. Thus, I was only told that he needed to wait for a new NOA with his new appointment. That's all the information I got.

I just wanted to bother them since they have such a bad service in general, not to mention all the misinformation which these operators have.

Anyhow, I told my wife to do a walk-in tomorrow if we do not receive a new NOA with the rescheduled appointment today.

I will tell my stepson to try a walk-in tomorrow since he hasn't gotten a letter with a new appointment. Does anyone has a good idea of a good excuse to give for a walk-in? Anyhow, I will let you know of the result to try this walk-in late tomorrow.

Very kind of you to rush to judgment. Perhaps you should consider that some people don't travel for leisurely vacations, but rather for more sensitive reasons.

Well if that's your case, it is what it is. Not trying to appear judgmental, though I can see how I could. I have seen people on this board on more than one occasion want to reschedule over really small things. I remember one was actually "devastated" (quote from post) that they couldn't go on vacation because of a scheduled appointment. It is kind of a pet peeve of mine, so I'm sorry if I seemed harsh.

OK, our boy, my wife's son, went to have his biometrics done, just a walk-in, since his appointment was on 8/10, which was canceled as a few of yours. According to my wife who went with him, the place was completely empty when they arrived, but she also mentioned that when they finished with her son's biometrics, there were about 5 people or so waiting to have theirs done too. I guess he was lucky that the place was empty when they arrived as I believe this was the reason why he was taken care of today. Now the only thing which bothers me a bit is that I hope nothing goes wrong with his K-2 AOS process just because of our rushing to do this out of order.

Thank you all for all your suggestions, and God bless you all. Have a nice and wonderful day!

Again, this shows the incompetence of the USCIS system. I am a web developer (a.k.a. software developer) for a big company. I write software for my company and we have our software tested and installed four times a year, or 4 different releases of our in-house software. Could you imagine having to shut down operations just because we are upgrading our software? If we did this, we would be out of business in a flash since all our customers will be so p...sss...ed at us for shutting down 4 times a year or 4 weeks a year as it is the intention of USCIS. I am glad I work for a private sector where things are run slightly more smoothly and with our clients in mind.

By the way, the cancellations went from 7/6, 7/7, 7/8, 7/9, and 7/10 a full week, and I am very suspicious about the fact that this week goes right after Saturday 7/4, a holiday, which does not happen to fall on a work day. I guess they wanted to take an extended holiday due to the fact that they didn't have one this year falling on a week day or business day.

Ciao!

It's actually a private contractor that runs the ACSs.

Another person reported success when they went in early, as you did (from a canceled appt). Since it's common practice that you can go in for biometrics any time after you have the letter, I doubt very much that doing so is going to screw up your K-2's case.

I'm sure that they have not scheduled it in order to get a longer holiday week.

Tin foil hats to the left please. ;)

i guess its the priviledge of public institutions to do whatever THEY want with petitioners. I work as IT Admin for private company, and darn ... if I said to my boss that servers will be shutdown for a week due to maintenance ... well, I would be looking for a new job in a glance LOL ;)

I still too think they just wanted to have a week off and then ASC IT was simply pressed into software update thing because of that (common order of things on such occasions) ...

anyways, my wife still didn't get reschedule notice as of today as she haven't walk-in yet either (afraid of consequences of being fingerprinted out of schedule thing and *possible* mix up in case processing).

I'm glad to have answers from you all, but a bit concerned, as my husband got a notice of cancellation in the mail today. His appointment was for July 10 in Tucson, AZ. It seems they are pushing them back 2 weeks, according to all your posts, but we will be traveling from July 21 to 29, and it seems almost certain his new appointment will be while we are gone. Any suggestions on what we should do?

I really don't understand why people schedule anything around the times when they are waiting to hear about USCIS appointments. Shouldn't anything that's related to your case be your first priority? Once you're done with all of the AOS stuff, you'll have plenty of time for traveling and whatever else. I can see for truly EMERGENT circumstances, but I rarely see that as a reason given for wanting to change an appointment.

You may need to consider changing your plans. :o

Very kind of you to rush to judgment. Perhaps you should consider that some people don't travel for leisurely vacations, but rather for more sensitive reasons.

I have to agree, sometimes people are being considerate to their AOS situation but have to plan for travel around the same time. We submitted our documentation well in advance as we are planning on having a post-wedding reception in London on US Labor Day (started planning this in December of last year - already paid for the hotel rental, caterer, band, etc.), so we're really pressed to get the biometrics out of the way to make sure the AP is approved in time.

My husband scheduled an INFOPass appointment for today hoping they would allow him to do his biometrics appointment since he showed up on the original scheduled date/time. But he they told him no and to show up at his scheduled time, even after speaking w/ a supervisor.

Looks like Milwaukee CIS doesn't accept walkins!
