Hello Everyone,

Just wanted to get your two cents on this...

My husband and I just filed for his AOS, EAD and AP. We received NOAs for all documents. Thereafter we received a notice of an appointment for is AOS biometrics for July 8th. Then today we just received a letter stating "APPOINTMENT CANCELLED" "No Need To Appear At ASC".

Any thoughts on what this means? I've read some other posts stating that maybe he should just go anyone at the originally scheduled time just in case it was a blunder of sorts.

Thx,

lhamilt

I am on the same boat with a K-2 visa and my stepson's AOS. His situation is a carbon copy of yours. What to do? What to do? Thanks.

I would think you will get the same notice of a reschedule. People who got the first notice to cancel are getting new letters with new dates.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

This is odd indeed - the 8th is a Wednesday - can't imagine something going on all across the country - maybe they're planning some sort of system update.

As recommended above - I would call - and/or go to the ASC maybe Mon/Tue (since most ASC's accept walk-ins). Obviously they aren't canceling the need for biometrics so may as well try and get it out of the way.

Be interested in hearing reports from those who have called the 800#.

I just called. I got the same notice, on a Saturday and freaked out. After several minutes with the automated guy, trying to discern the trick to speaking to a human (it's to ask for forms to be sent to you btw), I got through to an operator.

I explained the situation, which is. I filed my application, and got a notice of receipt. Then, about a week later, I got a notice that said "Appointment cancelled, no need to appear at ASC". Below it read, please appear at the ASC office on August something, at 8am.... He said it was a cancellation for the original notice. I said, this IS the original notice. I asked if there was anyway to see WHY the appointment had been cancelled, and there is wasn't. He just said I should sit tight and wait for rescheduling.

I (on my own) have concluded the scheduling notice for my cancelled appointment is probably en route. I think I may try and "show up" like other people seem to be planning on. I also agree with those who said that the operators are either uniformed or uninterested.

I totally agree abou the operators. Don't want to bad-mouth them too much, so I keep my mouth shut.

Thanks for the info. By the way, I got the cancellation notice last Friday as well. I don't remember my stepson's original appointment date for his biometrics. Note that he is 20 years old.

Ciao!

Hi! Just wanted to let you know that my appointment for July 8th also got cancelled. I already did a walk in on Wednesday. Very cuirous to find out what all this is about.

Did you actually walk in to have your biometrics done? It is not clear if this can be done in California, but if someone has done it, please, post. I will tell my step son to do the same this week to see what happens.

Just got mine in the mail too. Rescheduled for 17th july and org the 9th July. Not too bad as it is just one week delay.

So we hope to get a re-schedule notice some time this week. I will post here as soon as I get a new notice of action (NOA) with the biometrics appointment.

Again, I don't know if I should call USCIS tomorrow about this same issue, for it seems lots of people where in the same boat as my stepson.

Let us hope that we all get new notices. Thanks.

Ciao!

Hi,

I did a walk in in San Diego, CA. My appointment was also scheduled for around 9th July (I think) but I walked in last week. As long as you have an appointment letter from USCIS (date of appointment doesn't seem to matter) you seem to be able to walk in. It wasn't very busy and I was in and out within 15 minutes.

Thanks. I guess if we don't a NOA with a rescheduled appointment soon (today or tomorrow), my stepson can try to do a walkin, say this Wednesday. As I remember my wife's biometrics, we went there and the place was just empty that day. I don't think there are too busy and all these cancellations were because USCIS employees wanted to take all together a week off right after the 4th of July.

Ciao.

my wife didn't get the new appointment letter as of today. probably she will get one tomorrow. anyways it seems like 1-2 week delay with biometrics, so we are considering walking-in next Monday and see if they can process her earlier.

It seems they are pushing them back 2 weeks, according to all your posts, but we will be traveling from July 21 to 29, and it seems almost certain his new appointment will be while we are gone. Any suggestions on what we should do?

I really don't understand why people schedule anything around the times when they are waiting to hear about USCIS appointments. Shouldn't anything that's related to your case be your first priority? Once you're done with all of the AOS stuff, you'll have plenty of time for traveling and whatever else. I can see for truly EMERGENT circumstances, but I rarely see that as a reason given for wanting to change an appointment.

You may need to consider changing your plans. :o

Very kind of you to rush to judgment. Perhaps you should consider that some people don't travel for leisurely vacations, but rather for more sensitive reasons.
