travel agent question...

with all these new dicount airline sites...is a travel agent worth it? What could a travel agent do for us that we couldn't do ourselves? I am trying to get tix back to Oz over xmas holiday and am getting frustrated

thinking of other options any thoughts?

I haven't used a travel agent in years.....but I think travelling at that time of the year you will paying a lot whichever you choose....

Maybe you could post your travel requirements. Only cities and dates of course. Someone probably could find something.

I usually just use expedia.com never had a problem with them.

I mean I can use priceline and orbitz and all that...but maybe someone will find something else. Peak travel dates don't help

Basically I need to get from Jacksonville, FLorida to Melbourne, Australia...but it's heaps cheaper to fly from the west coast...so I might use FF miles to get to LA and then pay from there?

Leaving the 20th of December...coming back about the 2nd of Jan. The leaving dates are flexible...but going we HAVE to leave on the 20th...to be there in time for the wedding.

If anyone is really THAT bored at work Knock yourselves out...I always try both LAX and SFO (San Fran) because sometimes one is cheaper. The cheapest I've found so far is JUST over 2000. Oh and I only need ONE ticket as Stewart already has his.

Try http://www.sidestep.com - their user interface is much better than Orbitz, Expedia or Travelocity.

when booking flights to India, i always use a travel agent. The online sites never have the cheapest fares to India (not sure why).
