You can also look in the yellow pages for long distance carriers , alot of them have good international

calling packages.

we use skype through the computer...it's only 13 cents a minute or something like that. video to video calls are free

01-11-10 : Interview scheduled for Feb 4th!!! (doing the happy dance)

02-04-10 : APPROVED...but placed in AP

06-02-10 : STILL WAITING FOR VISA...will this ever be finished and we can finally be together?

07-09-10 : Visa Received!!!

07-17-10 : Arrived in the US safely via Chicago :-)

Skype is expensive.

I brought a MagicJack with me to Pakistan and it is working fine so far.Cost is only $1.66 a month,for unlimited incoming/outgoing to US and Canada.

last time I checked lowratevoip.com had rates as low as 3cents a minute to pakistan....you might as well go check it out!

I just checked.Lowratevoip.com is now almost 10c/min to Pakistan.

There is an update to my case visa has been printed(not sure of the date) and this is now confirmed that the procedure for getting the passport back with the visa has changed as it has happened to Hopeful786 as well.

Once the Embassy prints the visa the passport is sent to the Department of State in the US, they go through it one last time and then forwards it back to the Embassy - only after this the embassy hands over the passport to Amex for delivery to Applicant.

This is good news alhamdulilah :dance: ... and I guess the procedure did change, I guess with upgrading the system they have to do it this way.

Also I read somewhere on the USCIS website that ever since the Haiti earthquake, there has been immigration scams so maybe this procedure is done to reassure the visa and passport goes to the applicant.

Congratulations Feisal now u will receive visa in some days and ur passport is in Islamabad now .

insha'Allah you will hear good news... you are in my duas....after the email that we got for the names of siblings and parents request, I believe it was a month and 3 weeks that we got an email to submit the passport. Insha'Allah you are almost there

Guys,if any of you have naturalized recently,can you share with us,exactly how long it took from the date applied to the day you took oath?

This would give us some idea how long it is taking these days to process N-400 applications.

USCIS

04/24/09 :mailed I-130

04/29/09 : NOA1.

10/12/09: touched.

08/11/09: I-130 APPROVED!..asking for i824.....

08/24/09: i824 mailed

08/29/09: NOA 1

10/08/09: i824 transferred to local field office, went to field office, they said they dont have any info, called USCIS, they said it was an error, i shouldn't have filed i824...expedite request....no response..

10/28/09: contacted congressman

1/29/2010: USCIS located my files

02/01/2010: received approval notices for i130 AND i824

NVC Journey

02/02/2010: NVC/case# assigned

02/03/2010: Gave email addresses to NVC

02/08/2010: DS-3032 received

02/08/2010: Sent in DS-3032 email

02/08/2010: Received and paid AOS

02/11/2010: AOS fee accepted/shows as paid.

02/11/2010: AOS document cover printed.

02/19/2010: IV bill available online

02/19/2010: Paid IV bill

02/19/2010: DS-3032 accepted by NVC.

02/21/2010: IV bill: shows as paid

02/22/2010: printed cover sheet

3/11/2010: sent AOS and DS230 (overnight) signed by J.Desmond.

3/23/2010: sign in fail!!!!!!!! and 1 year anniversary

Gosh... news just keeps getting worse. We are still waiting and waiting for any news or updates on zaheer's case. Considering the amount of time its been so far up to the C-Section Scheduled date, it will put us at like exactly the amount of time it took you to get the call for your visa. But, now you say it has to go to USA before it can come back to Pakistan. Jeez.... we cant catch a break. I wish we'd gone ahead with the CR-1 now. Bhai, I am so happy for you that your ordeal is finally almost over and you will get to be with your wife soon. But I am so sad that Zaheer probably won't get to see his daughter be born. And I don't want to be sitting up in the operating room all alone without my husband. It's sad news for me, please pray for me. My husband went to Taxla today to speak to his Pir Sahib. Any prayers and well wishes are extremely beneficial for us right now. take care all.. Congrats again bhai. Allah Hafiz.
