Hi again everyone! Long time no talk :) and my fiance is still in AP (calling DOS every other day) Uffffff! I had a question about flying to the US for him since we are starting to look at itineraries (it's almost been 2 months of AP now)..

We found a really cheap ticket that would fly him from Dubai through Hong Kong to LAX (I live in Los Angeles) and it would be awesome! But we are wondering if he will need to get a Chinese Visa to just go through the airport there? Also, the same with Dubai, would he need a Dubai visa just to fly through the airport?

He is Afghan, not Pakistani.. don't know if it makes a difference??? Thanks so much for any help! Good luck to everyone! Glad to see so many people getting out of AP quickly!! Pray for us also! :)

What airline is it Naz&Omi? Cuz my POE will also be LAX and i cant find a direct flight to LAX from either ISL or KHI.

ZEE12 - Name check is part of AP , but surely not the only process in AP - In AP Interpol check is also done to see if u have criminal record anywhere else in the world and if you are hiding any travels to country of 6 months or more. Local investigation in pakistan for Military record, Criminal and terroist check is also done including document checking - hence it takes time to complete.

Feisal: Check out these links. I agree when u say that AP includes other things as well, besides just a name check. but wat i am not sure is, whether only FBI does all this for them or some other organization. As far as i think, FBI, does all the work. which includes criminal backgroundcheck, interpol check etc. but i maybe wrong.

I have been calling DOS as well, an a couple of time the visa specialists, told me that AP should be done withing 6 weeks. but then i also did come across some who said it was indefinite :( so i guess i am just speculating to make my self feel better. well i know for sure that they are working on clearing the backlog, and may be we might be the lucky one to get out of it within 6 weeks. Hopefully we will be lucky and our loved ones names wont match to the 10000 other similar names they will run through in their database.

Anyone know why the heck nvc is taking so long to forward my case to ISL embassy? It's been 6 days now and they still haven't sent the file out yet!!! Is this how long it took for everybody or is it just me the nvc is trying to depress to death? I'm praying they'll forward it by the 7th....making it a whole week of laziness on their part.....otherwise I'm just going to lose it completely (i'm sure you all can tell i'm already on the brink of insanity....).

I've been calling the ISL embassy like a mad women for a week now.....and they're ALWAYS BUSY!!!!!!!! Not once have I been able to talk to anyone out of the 500 times I've called!! I'm just so frustrated!!! How am I supposed to request an earlier interview date if NO ONE CARES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've emailed them daily at PAKIVINFO@state.gov(the email that they say to use for quicker service - NOT!) for the passed 6 days and have gotten nothing from them as of yet, honestly now.....a single reply of an email(which they claim is supposed to be faster service)can't be that difficult!!! I requested them to reschedule for an earlier date is all.....they could at least have the courtesy and decency to simply reply with a yes or no for GOD'S SAKE!

I wish I could calm down....and it could be my hormones driving me up the wall like this for all any of us know.....but damn I'm just so depressed with the whole "no progress" I've been having with our case for the past few weeks. It feels like I'm already in AP....and dealing with the oh so dead DOS......I shouldn't have to feel like that so soon.....it's not fair! We haven't even had our interview yet.....

Sorry....totally venting....:(

Well, we are booking with Expedia.com :) There are unfortunately NO direct flights from ISL or KHI or in our case Kabul (KBL), but I really wanted to book through LAX instead of JFK. If you go to www.expedia.com and if you can get to Dubai first (fly through Dubai I mean), then search for flights from (DXB - Dubai) to LAX and you'll see one that goes from Dubai to HK, China to Los Angeles and it's only $615! The airline will be AirChina all the way. Hope this helps! For the record, all the flights I looked at to try and fly from Islamabad to LAX are POE in JFK first... it's so expensive to fly out of ISL also..... uffff... Best of luck to you!

I dont think they will reschedule, because their schedules are usually really packed. They schedule one month ahead of time, and it is usually NVC that does the scheduling. Also if they have already scheduled u, Then they will forward your file accordingly. i wouldnt worry abt wen it will get to islamabad, i know that it will get for sure before yur interview. i know, they are horrible in replying to emails and stuff so just ignore that. Just take it easy and prepare yurself for the date u are scheduled for and take care of yurself, u really dont need the extra tension at this point.

I just checked dates on the letters we recieved from NVC and the Embassy. We received a letter on April 14,2009 saying that within a week our approved petition will be forwarded to the post( ISL).We received packet 3.5 on May 25,2009 which we sent in by the end of the same week.So as you can see in our case it took us lil over a month to hear something from the embassy.I then recieved my interview letter on June 29,2009 interview was on July 14,2009 and yes i was put under AP.........Its been already 7 weeks for AP now and i m just hangin in there. You shud relax and enjoy ramadan in pakiland,IA everything will workout soon for you.....God Bless.

It is too early for me to check on flights anyway but i still checked expedia and other websites just to see if there are flights goes to LAX.I found one i think it was emirates leaving from KHI to Abu Dhabi and then a stop over at London and then to LAX total Travel time was 33 hrs and the ticket was $1029.I wish if my fiancee was in new yawk i could have just taken PIA non stop 14 hrs flight..... plus I LOVE NY :) .....Thanx for the Info.

I have a question/concern... my fiance had his medical today and they only asked him to pay 4,000 rupees.. my concern is that they didn't give him any vaccinations, is that ok? It was just a regular check up (eye exam, blood test, x-ray, physical check up, blood pressure test, and that was it)... did anyone else not get a vaccination?

Ok my fiance made a good point, it's not under the review of the applicant to do the vaccines but under the review of the doctor whether it is necessary or not. We'll wait and see what the embassy says at the interview, if they say anything then he will get the vaccines. If the embassy questions about it, my fiance will just say the truth that they never gave him any vaccines.
