So does anyone know anybody who was not asked for any documents and got email with further questions on Facebook account etc. and finally got approved

+ how many are in this category of administrative processing? Please reply to this response and if we are more than 10-15 I can create a new thread to track cases just for that category. Or if we already have a thread on this category, please post link here

+ does anyone know what they do with this info social media information. Does embassy make decisions based on it or they send it to DOS to do further investigation, which would certainly take long time.

I have done some research on ds5535 and looks like it is not as scary as background check, which takes several months. It is something new that was introduced last year and I guess consular is responsible for taking all information and making decision based on it, which means case is not sent back for criminal check. Here is what federal register says:

Methodology

Department of State consular officers at visa-adjudicating posts worldwide will ask the proposed additional questions to resolve an applicant's identity or to vet for terrorism, national security-related, or other visa ineligibilities when the consular officer determines that the circumstances of a visa applicant, a review of a visa application, or responses in a visa interview indicate a need for greater scrutiny. The additional questions may be sent electronically to the applicant or be presented orally or in writing at the time of the interview. In furtherance of this collection, consular officers are directed not to request user passwords; engage or interact with individual visa applicants on or through social media when conducting assessments of visa eligibility; not to violate or attempt to violate individual privacy settings or controls; and not to use social media or assess an individual's social media presence beyond established Department guidance. Consular staff are also directed in connection with this collection to take particular care to Start Printed Page 36182avoid collection of third-party information

Failure to provide requested information will not necessarily result in visa denial, if the consular officer determines the applicant has provided a credible explanation why he or she cannot answer a question or provide requested supporting documentation, such that the consular officer is able to conclude that the applicant has provided adequate information to determine the applicant's eligibility to receive the visa. The collection of social media platforms and identifiers will not be used to deny visas based on applicants' race, religion, ethnicity, national origin, political views, gender, or sexual orientation.

They have only one courier service.. American express . Where you need to create an account right when you go to their office to deliver your documents.

i know we can use SpeedEx/American Express i hv follow the process n create UID then send documents through embassy recommended courier service Office..

My question was that, how much time it takes the embassy to receive (means in how many days after they acknowledge that they hv received our documents) n how much time embassy takes to review that documents.

we are in same boat actually i hv also send documents relating that on last friday too but haven't received any correspondence from embassy yet.

i told u before if they rejected old one then they should hv a solid reason so u hv to find new. But please remember that u must have to send form i-864 from ur primary petitioner even with zero income. plus with her most recent tax return which she hv filed. if she did not filed her tax returns in last three years then she have to explain that y she did not filed or not eligible to file that returns. If you hv already send that then only send the joint sponsor  documents only.

I agree with u its very hard to get joint sponsor i pray fr u n hopefully u get that soon..

Our interview went very good yesterday 7th Feb, the councler said all ok but in the end he gave us 221g and put our case on administrative process and said to one of my son who is 21 and under cspa that u will get a mail around
2.00 pm reply instantly.. that email was all about common questions, about his social media details, if married then asked about spouse and kids.. phone numbers used by last 5 years... Anyone have any idea how much time it will take as my status shows if ur visa is approved you will get it in two business days..
