I am a US citizen. Got married on 15th july 2010 apllied for my husband on 20th november 2010 as I was told to apply after living 6 months in Pakistan I could file the I-130 form

My husband lives in Islamabad, Pakistan. In between we got a mail from US embassy that had DS230 and sponsorship forms. We filled them and mailed them back through American Express courrier service. Got an interview for March 2nd. Had interview, the interviewer saw the wedding pictures asked a couple of questions. Then at the end she gave us a green sheet and told us that everything looked fine but it will go under administrative process. About 95% of the case go thru AP and it will take average of 2 months. since then its been 3 months and nothing. Its very depressing ! Everything went so smoothly till the interview but after that the AP which is breath taking.. It's very hard living here every second of every minute i'm counting but it doesn't end :(

I'll pray that you hear something very soon!!! We have our interview in just two weeks and he isnt' nervous at all lol but i am! I guess i feel smtimes if i cant control things i feel nervous... all our documents are in order, we've known each other long enough that he know everything about me/us...im above poverty level last two years but both years between 2k and 500 dollars...so i included my 401k assets which are not related to my job so i can cash it out anytime...they are worth over 108k so if cashed out it would be about 80k in cash.

I guess it all depends on the CO and whether or not his name is common enough or on a special list of individuals that the government deems suspect... i just pray that they will approve us...n then we can deal with AP :( im prepared but i think it will still hurt....

good luck and i pray soon your ap ends....

All the best for ur interview...

Well... we are officially in what they said Mandatory AP.... we figured it would happen. They kept his passport and gave him a pink token to which we need to send a couple of more documents for clear evidence my oldest child is of legal age in NC and that i dont pay child support... they also told him to keep that token safe as it would give him the info needed to obtain visa once it gets to local office.

Never said your approved pending the documents just said we need this document and your in mandatory ap...we cant do anything to stop mandatory ap.

I really miss him and im just ready to have our life together in one home...not separated by distance anymore...

Just wish i knew a clear outcome but God willing soon we will know...

Still in limbo... embassy received our documents last week on Thursday and they sent email letting us know they received them. We are now waiting to see if they can approve my i 864 now.... I make above 125% for 5 ppl which is who lives with me and my husband... but they had wanted to include a son who is over 18 and i dont pay child support or claim on taxes. We submitted proof of this so they can re examine the i 864 using the correct household. (we filled it out correctly, they are the ones wanting to include the extra person)

So along with the i 864 I submitted which shows im above poverty line for 5 ppl I also included a 401k asset which was a property settlement not job related so it can be cashed at any time I want. its worth over 108k and cashed out would be 80k. (not sure if they want to accept the 401k as assets...doesnt sound like they want to cos if they did they would have just approved us i would think...not sure tho)

We sent the attorney letter detailing evthing along with my sons drivers license, bank statement, my lease showing me and my girls as tenants, a copy of 2010 tax saying i didnt claime my son in 2010 and info from custody papers saying i never paid child support and i waived my right to claim my son two yrs ago on taxes. Along with a few other documents from my bank stating ive never paid child support and that i receive consistent payments of child support ev two weeks etc.....

Anybody know how long it will take to review those few docs?

Just pray for us that we finally hear that it was accepted and his visa is approved pending AP....

My wife went for interview in Islamabad on 8/11/2011 and she was handed over a green slip (AP)with 221 g refusal. They kept the passport and all the paperwork. Are all the green slips have 221 g refusals?

'

It's usually only a refusal to give the visa that day...not a refusal forever... did they request any other documentation? if not then its simply AP... if they requested documents to be submitted get those in and they will have to review and she will still be in ap...

what exactly did the document say? was anything checked or written on it?

They did not ask for any additional documents. The green slip is to be taken to collect the passport once they stamp (I hope! the visa. How long the AP would take usually?

There is no way anyone can tell you how long your ap is going to take unfortunately..it could be a few weeks or months....

The pink token is what you take to get your passport not any green slip that ive heard of.. they kept my husbands passport and gave him a pink token with serial numbers on it and told him he will need that to collect his passport with visa when its issued.

hi and salam ALI777 can you tell me which kind of question consular officer ask to your wife if you give me complete details of your wife interview question.session. then iam able to tell you how much days or weeksor months your wife got her visa with passport and please tell me in the end of your wife interview with consular officer which kind of words consular say to your wife. i mean to say consular officer use words (congrulation) or not.and consular officer return all your wife original document or not . because some time consular officer in the end of benificery interview forget to return original document. if consular officer forget to return original then your wife ask about the original doc or not. or consular officer some things say about the original doc to your wife or not please give me complete details because this things decide your wife AP PERIOD TIME. because as my knowledge of experience there is a 3 type of AP. NO-1 SHORTER AP, NO-2 SHORTEST AP, NO-3 LONG OR LONGER AP which have no time limits

The counselor officer had objections like Why is the haq meher so little on the nikah nama? because it was my second marriage and we did not invite a lot of people when he saw the wedding pictures he said why are there so little people in the pictures? What kind of work your husband do? where does he live? she told him where I lived and he said that in the system it is a different city. He did not return the documents and my wife did not ask for them. He also kept the passport. He did not congratulate her either.

They returned all our originals and kept his passport issuing a pink token along with the 221g for ap....

we found out today thru DOS that they don't have any updates recorded since july 25th and the man told my husband that once they complete the name checks from the embassy they can contact us thru email or cell to pick up visa...

so the man thinks they are doing our name checks from the embassy side

Ali it sounds like they will be doing some more investigative work on your case such as checking the nikah nama and maybe even calling some ppl from the city where you married. Since they didn't return the documents they may have kept them so they can contact the places you got them from to confirm the validity of them

The CO called me and did phone interview with me on july 25th and after he told me our case was good and there was nothing to worry about that all that is left is my husbands name checks.

Im sure once they review a few things with your case they will also move forward with it and issue visa... good luck

hi and salam i think consular officer doubtful about your marriage in consular officer thinking your marriage is only purpose for green card because after your wife visa approval and green card consular officer thing you divorce your wife and without any financial problem you give your divorce wife her small or little amount or haq mehar easily. because every consular officer have a complete petationer back ground history in his computer data base that petationer is a rich man or what is petationer status in usa consular officer have every single imformation about petationer. and secound doubtful things is that you and your wife invite little people in your marriage ceremony. because bear in mind one things consular officer traning is very very tough this is the part of the every consular officer traning which ever country embassy he or she belong. the first lesson of his or her traning is to teach and read about that country tradition and culture. and our pakistani culture and tradition is that type when we marry some one or any one we invite so many and lot of lots of people in our marriage. that why every embassy consular officer follow and believe our traditiion and our culture. and if we do any things to ignore our culture and tradition this things create consular officer doubtful. but i think you dont worry about that as my knowledge of experience this is not a big issue for embassy. and your wife case is going to back ground check in pakistan city. and after back ground check they will issue your wife visa with passport and your wife AP is belong to shortest AP which is only min 3 month or max 6 month only but you have a 2 plus point which is very very good for your cr1 case there is two good news for you no one news is your wife is female and no 2 news is consular officer kept your wife passport .

Thanks. What type of background check would they do as we have provided the police report for my wife to them already?

They do back ground checks thru the FBI and other national data bases. They don't tell you which ones they are issuing for checks (can be just a simple name check or it can be in depth checks) but the time frame shouldn't be too long as long as the name isnt hit during the prcess and they have to check further details. It can be over within a few weeks or months... rarely takes longer than 6-8 months.
