Hi All -

Im a US citizen, got married in 2008. My husband is a Pakistani citizen and is on a temp work permit in the UK. His visa was for two years. I applied for his I-130 petition in Nov 2008, the petition was approved in Feb 2009 and his interview took place at the London Embassy on July 9th 2009. The interview went well. Since I also temporary decided to come to the Uk and live with him therefore had to quit my job, however, my I-864 was approved as I showed support from family. The consular at the embassy questioned me more than him abt my plans of working n stuff, which I explained to him he was satisfied, long story short, everything went fine. However, my husband's case required AP. We were told that its going to take 6 weeks and that after that if the embassy doesnt contact us then we should contact the embassy ourselves. After that we tried really hard to contact the london embassy but all in vain. To call the embassy costs you are fortune like £1.50 per min or so and the person on the phone doesnt provide any info whatsoever. So I started calling DOS....and now its June 2010 and his case is still in AP. Now his UK visa is about to expire, he cannot extend his visa here. He will have to go back to Pakistan if his US visa doesnt get approved by the end of AUG. I have an 8.5 month old daughter who is so attached to him. I've written to the senator and congressman but all they can tell me is that case is in AP and that we shouldnt let the case go to Pk because everything will restart again, he will be interviewed again and his AP will start from scratch. So I will end up in USA with my daughter and will be forced to raise her alone while my husband waits and we wait and wait and wait. I dont know what to do??? Im going into major depression now due to all this............I dont know what to do?????? Also, my husband still has is passport, however, we've paid $80 or courier, when we contacted the embassy abt these questions, they completely ignored us......Any advice????

I understand some of your plight. My husband was stuck in AP for 5 months. I had to return to USA and give birth to our daughter all alone. I had to raise her for 2 months by myself. But, he did finally get here. I wish you the best of luck and I pray for a speedy AP for u.

I am still waiting for my wife's process to get completed. I hear you - and no idea what I would do. Only thing you can do is to quit your job and move in with him where ever he is. As far as the AP, he will have to inform them about change of address some how.

It depends where you will be coming from but if you get to bus stop at 6:00 or 6:30AM then you will have enough time. They used to have this bus stop at convention center before buth now they moved it to Bara kahoo side. it better to be early for an hour than coming 5 min late. Good Luck

I am an LPR and my wife's paperwork is being processed at NVC.I sent in my I-864 even though I had no job,the NVC said I'd require a co-sponsor,then they returned my own I-864 and asked me to send in proof of my bank balance in US.I returned the I-864 with proof, all this while my co-sponsor is still lingering over in sending his I-864.

Today when I called the NVC,they told me the file is complete and waiting to schedule the interview at Islamabad.

Is this usual? How come they have completed the file even though they don't have the I-864 from the co-sponsor?

maybe they are forwarding the file to the embassy who will decide if I need a co-sponsor.Is it right?

Its a paper and not even a card and it is against the law to laminate it.

Also Feisal, never ever carry it with you when you go out.Just memorize the number and save it at home somewhere.Same goes for the green card.I have never carried it on me anywhere, nor have I ever been asked to show it unless someone asks you to bring it along otherwise there was never the need to carry it,except ofcourse when you are travelling internationally.Hope these tips help.

hi i think your wife interview schedule 28 august to between 13 september 2010 so be prepared for interview collect all necessary prove and evidence like email photo reciept skypee call record or land line phone record train reciept or restaurant westeren union money transfer reciept your last trip air plane ticket your wedding invetation cards or your marriage garden booking reciept also valima and also email awritten a time line letter to islamabad embassy before your wife interview which is something like that how you meet where you meet your engagement ceremony date or marriage date your pakistan visit date your first meeting date your honeymoon trip date month and mention this is your arrange marriage or love marriage mention she belong to your family or she not belong to your family or relative make a complete time line with date month and year and send it to islamabad embassy and remember send this time line benefecery email id only because this time line reslove consular officer complication about relationship between husband and wife for example because some time consular officer thought this marriage is only purpose of green card so all time line mention in detail

Salaamz long lost friendssssssss sup kia haal hay sub ka? mumtazg38 i m gonna become a father soon ..hope its a daughter :) newayz good to see u here i m wondring where brother feisal is...neways guys good luck yo ...god bless u all peace.

Awwwwww!! Mubarak Mubarak! And inshallah may you have a healthy, happy and beautiful baby! Babies are sooooo much fun....for the first few years of their lives you're the ONLY thing that matters to them and they are simply so dependent on your love....like when you walk into the room or when they see you how happy they get! It's the best feeling in the world to know how important you are to them...and how badly they want and need you! Of course, they do eventually grow up and grow out of this stage....especially by 10-13 years lol. Then your just embarrassing. ;). But I think that usually wears off around 18-20'ish. (It did for me ;p). Just enjoy each moment as it comes!

:D

So sorry for the INCREDIBLY late reply.....I've just been too darn busy for anything since I came back to NY. I think Faris Ali (the baby) has been going through some majour growth spurts lately...he's been good though. In fact, incredibly good mahshallah se. I NEVER knew having a baby could be this simple....but it still is time consuming even with the most well behaved babies. I am very diligent about Faris eating no cereals, rice and other grain-based things and I also do not like the idea of feeding him Gerber and other baby food brands. I mean...when did this happen that baby foods became a food group of colorful boxed, jarred or canned store bought foods with strange labels and unpronounceable ingredients otherwise known has sugar(fructose, dextrose, maltose and other stuff ending in "ose"), empty carbs and as for the juices and baby foods first solids....just a ton of water, loads of chemicals to hold the stuff together to stay well mixed and look pretty...colors, flavors and additives and just a tiny bit of the actual fruit or vegetable mentioned on the label! When did baby food...become junk food. I can't even put my finger on when baby food went from mothers milk and wholesome homemade mashed solid foods to....an entire brand (or many brands) of canned, jarred and boxed junk foods that we can't confirm or deny are actually "good" for the baby. I wouldn't eat the branded pureed vegetables if I was on a diet(it's tastes way too sweet and way too different from the actual vegetable/fruit)...so why on earth should I feed it to my baby!

With all that said.....one of the main reasons I haven't had alot of time lately...and non whatsoever for VJ is that I make my own baby food for Faris and as simple as it sounds...it's very time consuming. Especially since he seems to be EATING A LOT lately. MAHSHALLAH! I have to first purchase fresh organic ingredients, then I wash them in a solution that kills harmful pesticides and chemicals that most soft skin fruits/veggies get sprayed on them to keep them fresher longer. This can take a fairly long time with the amount of food I make at a time. Then I cut up, steam and puree...I make mixed batches, separate batches, and juices and shakes....so repeated several times. This process takes a HUGE CHUNK of time out of my day, as I do this daily for freshness. Other than that, just baby stuff most parents will understand.

We are also going through the home-buying procesas at the moment. We are talking to realtors/brokers as we speak daily to find the best fit. We are also looking at places ourselves....we are also gathering documents and stuff we need for the pre-approval process for the mortgage and all sorts of other stuff. And since my husband works 12 hours a day, and the commute is about 1 and a half ours each to work and back....The word "WE" in this topic is being used very very loosely! lol. It's mainly me doing all of the work, but that's fine as my husband is always so busy.

Okay....no more excuses. Gotta go back and finish reading the rest of the posts on this thread.....I still haven't finished catching up yet. :(

I realize I've neglected the spreadsheet quite a bit.....it's just gotten very difficult to keep tending to it with my busy schedule! Anyone looking to volunteer to help tend to the spreadsheet and keep it up-to-date? Anyone??? :)

Well, when we went for interview they did ask us for the new PCC. But, before the interview in the interview letter they sent us they mentioned that we would need to bring a new PCC as the old PCC was only good for 3 months and by the time of interview it will have expired. Just to be safe, call and ask embassy again...another person and see what answer you get. If it's different, I suggest you simply be on the safe side and get another one. IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE WHEN IT COMES TO INTERVIEW! Don't try to save money now of all times.....because if you are not MORE THAN WELL PREPARED for an interview at ISL then you are VERY VERY VERYYYY likely to fail unless god has mercy on you. And if not, second interviews can even take as long as 3-6 more months to schedule! Don't risk it, just be safe! That is my suggestion. :)

Hey, Hope all is well. I need to know from people who are already in the US if their SSN arrived as schedule or did you visited the SSN office?

Hi Faisal Bhai,

Hope your doing well and enjoying the U.S :).

I waited a month and some, and eventually had to send my husband back to the SSO to apply for his SSN, apparently it had never been applied for despite the fact that we had selected for it to be applied and mailed to us. This is fairly common. It is best to simply wait 2 weeks to a month, then go to the SSO and give your name and ID (passport is best)and ask whether your SSN has been applied for. They will be able to tell you by that time whether it has or has not. If, by that time USCIS has not sent an application in your name (it can take a while for the application date etc. to get entered into the SSO's computers apparently) then you may apply right then and there.

Good luck, and well wishes. :)

I heard for islamabad embassy you have to get ur medical done 2 weeks prior to ur interview date, Is that true? I know u all got medical for what was ur interview date?

One more thing about police character certificate, Is PCC valid for 3months, 6months or twelve months? How old ur PCC will be at time of ur interview?

My spouse need to get Medical and may need a new PCC, our interview date is 7/16/10. Any suggestion

You should call and schedule the Medical nearest to 2 weeks before your interview date. Some places are walk in, and some are appointment based, this is mentioned in your letter along with the locations nearest you. Either way, you should call and ask to avoid several useless trips. My husbands was 3 months each time, we got it made 3 times total and each time was the same...valid for 3 months. It should say the date it is valid until on or around the stamp somewhere on the PCC itself. Have a look. If not, it's best to be safe so go for 3 and even if the interviewer doesn't ask for it at least you will be guilt free and safe. But, the interviewer did ask us, and several other people on this thread also. In our case they put it in an RFE letter. So instead of mailing it, since our interview was near we called the ISL and asked if we should mail it or bring it along and they said bring it along. That is what the RFE actually meant.
