waiting4rana.. when did you file?

It may comfort you to know that it takes atleast 1-1.5 year for the whole process.. for some people, it's longer at USCIS, some get stuck at NVC, and some have longer AP's so if everything else went fast enough for you, be patient. It will be over soon.

In my case, I was on AP for 33 months at USCIS and then it took about 11 months for my husband to receive his visa.

Just an update: Its been a week, havent got the passport back yet. My husband called embassy, they said he might be getting a call from Amex in next 2 to 3 days. Lets see how it goes.

Also, I have been reading on here how hard it usually is to contact embassy. But Shahid's call went through first time he dialed. Just wondering.

I don't think thats true because our original interview date was scheduled for October 26th. Thats pretty much the LAST week of the month. But when we got there the embassy was closed because of security reasons. when we called the embassy to reschedule they gave us a new date of November 2nd. So, I don't think it is true. But you never know. Good luck to you.

I was not saying tht they schedule interviews for the dates tht are during the first 2 weeks.

I meant to say they make schedules 'during' the first 2 weeks of the month.... for the interviews that are next month. Point is tht they make schedules for 'upcoming month' during the start of the 'previous month' and then send out letters...

Like our case was transfered to Isl embassy on Dec 31st. They scheduled our interview during the start of the January and sent us the appointment letter on Jan 11th. The interview was scheduled for February 17th; the upcoming month.

So they work on making schedules during the first 2 weeks of the month and send out letters. These appointment letters are usually for the interviews that are during next whole month. Hope u get my point.

This is what I have known and then the same thing happened to us.

Lashbanda: I am 'assuming', they might schedule ur interview during the start of March and u might be getting an appointment letter sometime during the start or the middle of March. Expect your inteview date sometime in April.

They DO schedule interviews during the first two weeks of the month. hshah is completely correct. She is not talking about the date of a persons interview though. She means that they appoint interviews in the first two weeks of the month to people who's cases have just closed and been transferred to the embassy. Once the cases are transferred, interviews must be given in the order that the embassy received the cases. The embassies only give out interviews during the first two weeks of the month in which the cases were sent to the embassy. If for example, your case wast sent after the first two weeks of Feb...like February 22nd for example...then your case would sit there and simply wait until the next month to be given a interview date, usually in the next month afterwards. Meaning, you would be informed by the embassy of your interview date somewhere between March 01 - March 15. Then you would most likely receive an interview date in the next month accordingly. Meaning the month of April. Early or late depends "usually" on how early they gave you the interview info in March. Although, if your case was on time for the first two weeks of Feb, for example Feb 3rd....then you would most probably get scheduled and you may receive a interview date for March.

Scheduled means : The date they tell you when your interview will be.

Interview or interview date means : The date your interview is on.

Hope that clears that up. :)
