What do you think businesses will do? They will dump their plans. Its a big expens for them anyway. They will think good riddance. Then we will have 300 million on the public plan.

If they do, hopefully they can pay their employees a little more for their pocket, and then us working folk can either purchase the public plan or an affordable private plan...

This may be too optimistic, though, no?

Ok, Goverment is going to make healthcare avalible for all Americans.

Will businesses cease to make healthcare avalible for their employees since the goverment is going to cover them?

Why should they pay for it if Uncle Sam will?

One of the positions taken by business leaders who don't want a comprehensive national plan is that they want to be able to continue to attract good employees by offering them competitive benefits packages, to include generous health insurance plans. If you follow that line of thinking, companies that can afford it will continue to offer private health insurance as an alternative or supplement to the (presumably) less attractive government plan. This is a common scheme in many countries w/ universal coverage.

This is not a single-payer scheme under discussion. The public option would be a product for sale, not a giveaway to middle-income people.
