Unfortunately, I don't know how to see this statistics, but what would you say the minimal time between NOA2 (I129F approval) and getting the passport with K1 visa is? We have all documents ready but want to decide whether to go with plan B or still continue to wait for NOA2 approval...

Thank you in advance.

Average is about 60 (or so) days between when your petition is approved (NOA2) and when an interview is scheduled (varies by Embassy/Consulate of course).

There is an enormous amount of variety here. Check the statistics for your consulate. Can be from a few weeks to a few months.

With Kiev it is at least 50% your choice. It takes 2-3 weeks for the petition to arrive there. You can make an appointment anytime after that and Kiev is offering appointments in as little as four days. Are your interview documents all ready? They should be by now. You need to have all the interview documents prepared before calling because you will get an appointment FAST.

When you get NOA2, wait 2-3 weeks, call the call center (I detailed that in your other post) and make you appointment for what works for you. After an approved interview, the K-1 applicant USUALLY has visa in hand within a week. They will tell you 7-10 days, but it is usually more like 4-5 days. With Kiev, it is possible to have visa in hand 5 weeks after NOA2...providing no AP at the NVC.

Resurrecting this thread... What exactly can be done on our side to speed this process up as much as possible? We have a deadline and every day matters so I'd like to know what we can do once NOA2 is received. I've read we can schedule a medical exam with some KEV number for example that we get once NOA2 notice is received. What else?

Is there any way to track this package that will be delivered to the consulate?

Is there any way to track this package that will be delivered to the consulate?

First, get ALL your interview documents ready, translated as needed, and organized. A few days after you get the NOA2 you should receive a letter from the NVC with a KEV number. You can schedule an appointment for the medical then. Now, let me tell you a little secret...I scheduled a medical for our son a couple weeks ago and they never asked for the KEV number when I scheduled. They DID ask when he arrived for the medical though. Take that for what it's worth, You could wait until you receive the NOA2, then schedule the appointment for the medical, say, two weeks out and you should be safe. If not, you can always re-schedule the medical.

OK, that said, many people wait until they shcedule the interview and then schedule the medical for the day before the interview. You can pick up the medical results at 3pm the same day, so it is not a problem, and you can get a medical appointment on 1-2 days notice. The medical clinic is, right now, closed on Wednesdays. The consulate does not do interviews on Fridays (right at the moment) so if you are doing a "back to back" medical/interview, keep that in mind.

As soon as Kiev has your case (2-3 weeks after NOA2 if no delays at NVC) you can schedule an appointment. I have heard there is a way to track deliveries from NVC to Kiev, though it is not precise, AND it doesn't matter. Just because the petition is delivered to Kiev does not get it "in the system" and it has to be "in the system" before they will make an appointment.

My advice? 2 weeks after NOA2 start to call the call center. Follow the prompts to buy a PIN with your credit card and you will get one of the operators, Viktoria or Vitaly. Give them your KEV number and ask if they have the case. If not, hang up and call back in one week (Kiev updates the system on Friday, or did, and to my knowledge still does) If they say YES, they have it, then buy a PIN and call back for an interview appointment, right now Kiev is running four days out on appointments. By the way, the call center is in Warsaw, Poland and the operators have no way to check with anyone at the consulate other than their computer system. They can not help you in any other way. You could call the consualr visa section and ask them to get your case in the system ASAP, not sure it would help. Phone numbers for the consular section are on the website. DO NOT forget your fiance needs a DS157 form also, the instructions do not tell you this, but he does. It is required of all males over age 16.

Ukraine has compulsary military service for males 18-20 years old, which means he was in the military OR has a student deferrment, you need his military registration card, discharge papers (if applicable) and his student deferrment order (if applicable) and all needs to be translated. If he is over age 18, I presume so, he will NOT get a visa without these. If he was one of many Ukrainian men that "forget" to register for compulsary military service he needs to do that NOW. Ukriane can get real nasty about this. They will not issue a new passport to a male over 18 without military registration and will, if they can track it down, flag an existing passport so they cannot leave the country.
