FedEx to USCIS and NOA1

I sent my K-1 visa package on Tuesday (6/23/09) to USCIS via FedEx, morning delivery. A trusted fellow member on the Russian forum suggested that USCIS was best organized to handle applications sent by US Postal Service and FedEx might delay my application a couple days. I can not speak for others or if this has happened in the past, I can only state my check was cashed and NOA1 was issued Wednesday, 6/24/09. This is the first couple steps in a very long expensive process.

Since the average processing time for NOA1 seems to be 7-10 days, I am delighted with one day. I would be even more delighted if I received the NOA2 next week

Thanks for sharing your experence and congratulations on the quick turn around!

FedEx to Vermont Service Center is not a problem since they list a street address on the petition instructions.

Unfortunately, the address listed for the California Service Center is a PO box and FedEx generally doesn't do PO boxes. So you would need to look up the actual street address for them. For the archives, this is the address listed on the USCIS website for non-USPS deliveries to California Service Center.

USCIS

California Service Center

24000 Avila Road

2nd Floor, Room 2312

Laguna Niguel, CA 92677

(Please note the type of I-129 in the attention line)

A couple of days difference for rush delivery is insignificant compared to the length of this whole process. But I can identify with the sense of urgency. Settle in and wait for NOA-2!

I understand, but for me, it was worth the extra expense for FedEx and I am happy to be early for the NOA1. A starving man sometimes will eat crumbs under the table while waiting to be fed a full meal :star:

I've used the USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation and it worked just fine. It's there in 2-3 days and seeing how you have a considerable wait, what's a couple of extra days anyway.

The USCIS system is set up to keep track of cases using large folders and bar codes. So, when your application is received someone must go through it to insure everything is there. After that initial review, the bar code is added, the case number assigned and the acknowledgement sent (mail and web). They use two top hole punch system to hold all the documents. It then is placed in its sequence position to wait for that fateful day when they begin to process it. Thus, everytime the case file is moved, the bar code is scanned. That scan is the "touch" that we at VJ are so familiar with. The scanning system allows the USCIS to know who was the last person to have the file. Considering the millions of files they handle each year, it's relatively efficient, albeit slow.

Good information, thanks for sharing that John. (and for all others, I am the one who suggested FedEx may not be the best way to go.) I still wouldn't recommend it in the general case, but I'm very happy to hear it worked for you. :)

I remembered you were the one, just did not want to single you out. I am usually the exception to the rule; glad it worked for me also. Actually, mine arrived FedEx Freight; they may have wanted to just get my file cabinet full of documents off their desk, that is why they processed mine so fast. You know what they say, If you can not flatter them with brilliance, befuddle them with bullshit"

Mox a trusted member?

We had this whole thing about a year ago (maybe longer) where we were accused by some "visitors" of being (and since this is a family friendly site) "members" so we took it to heart and if you read my signature line, you'll see that I'm now proudly proclaiming to be a Russia forum "member." Mox was right there with me as I'm sure he's also proud of his "membership" both in the forum and in real life.

The whole FedEx thing is with the address/PO Box. If you have an address (and the money to burn) go for it!

I definitely stand tall (and to the left) as a proud RU Forum "member."
