Jim Henson and Dr. Seuss for more elder statesman to the Generation X'ers than members of that generation, while MJ was more one of us...we grew up together.

LOL.........um no Steven..........

Jackson was a Boomer, like me.

Yes, he is an symbol of the boomer generation and very much in the vanguard of a new music style. He broke racial barriers and has secured a place as a cultural icon. He was only six years younger than I am, and he was 5 when he started with the Jackson 5. I remember in junior high school, my friends and I used to lip sync to their songs. He has been in my life for nearlyas long as I've been living, and I have to say he is part of some of my best memories. I enjoyed his music and talent very much, and I mourn what might have been if he hadn't gotten so weird. Watching all of these videos again makes me happy and sad at the same time because he had it all, but, like too many from our childhood - Hendrix, Joplin, Morrison - he's gone too soon.

RIP, Mikey (F)

Hey! I had that abum! I'll admit that I saw Neil Diamond in concert last fall.

The forst conert I went to was Jimi Hendrix and the Experience at a hotel ballroom in DC. It was so cool because we bought tickets at the hotel box office as we walked in. They were about $5. We picked up a folding chair, and picked where we wanted to sit. We got there first, so we sat right in front of the stage. After the show, everyone just came up on stage and got our picture taken with Jimi and the band. Concerts were ever so sample after that except that I always got to go for free as a member of the press :D

OK, OK, OK.............I confess! I have seen Neil Diamond in concert!

I think it was in the early 80's, around the time of the Jazz Singer release. The concert was a good 2.5 hours long and there were like four encores. I'm not kidding.

But here's Sweet Caroline..........
