Hello!

I would like someone's take on this. I would appreciate your time very much. Please read the directions (not many) on the following page: http://damascus.usembassy.gov/iv-clearance.html

Our number appeared there today for the 1st time.

Our interview was April 15, 2009. We had to do one thing which we did right away and submitted. Nothing appeared online this whole time.

I recently sent them an email wondering why we were not showing "pending". They never responded. Today the number shows up online.

From what I read, we are to go to the Embassy on Sunday and find out what is going on. My question is- Why is our case now showing up and it didn't for all this time? Do you think the security clearance went through? The site has me a little confused- I am not sure if ALL cases

are on there; or just certain ones. (why did it take 2 months to get ours online?) I want to get hopeful that the end is near, but I am afraid we

will still be in security clearance or whatever... but then this brings me to my original question- why now?

Hmm.. At least it is something- and we now know we are out there and we have a number visible online!

...sorry for the repeated question- it is just driving me nuts!

Thank you for your insights.

Hello,

It is normal to feel anxious about this, and it's good that your number is on line! If you are not showing pending, does it show completed? If so, and you don't have the (**) then it means a visa is available for you this month. I would call DOS, not the embassy and ask the status of your case. If they too say AP is completed, then go to the embassy and inquire about your case complete status and if everything is sufficient at that time, you should be getting your visa. There is sometimes a lag between case complete and visa issuance. For us, we have AP for 13 months, got visa in November November 2 but get this - the visa was stamped on october. Yea...we didn't know the whole time, but I believe it was God testing us.

So for your question, it may have been pending but not put on the site, they say at the bottom sometimes they don't put them but and to check every week. Otherwise they completed it and put up the final completed status because you had to submit something. While they were processing that one thing they probably did not put a pending status on it and just processed it and now it is complete.

Hopefully all will be well, call DOS and make sure of your status.

God bless,

Tam

Thank you for your thoughts. I appreciate it. We are showing "pending", but we were just put on the other day after waiting 2 months since the interview. We have submitted everything they asked for after the interview was done and I believe we are just waiting on the security check to go through. I have a feeling that they just put us up just to put us up there, but we are still in AP. I hate this roller-coaster ride and do not want to get my hopes up but it is like impossible! We will see when he goes Sunday morning. I will put in a call to DOS though if you think they will give me more information.

Thank you!

Hello,

DOS will not give you any more detailed answers, but they will be able to let you know if the AP has been completed or not. Clear cut yes/no answer is what you can expect. As for the roller coaster ride, my husband had AP for 13 months so I think I know the feeling and many people today are facing 6-8 months of AP then their cases are returned to USCIS, which means about double the wait. I woul be patient with this if I were you, yes getting hopes really hurts when any planned date does not work out, but be hopeful.

I do think they waited this long to put your case number up because they added in the additional documents and this "pending" is probably the AP which is not yet complete.

Wish you journey will be well, ask questions if you are lost - this site has many very intelligent and compassionate folks.

God bless,

Tam

Salaam-

Dento- I sent you a private message. I would like to hear more!

Tam- Thanks for the info. I am wondering why these files are going back to the USCIS? Did the interview not go well? On what basis are they sending these back? They are asking the USCIS to reconsider their previous decision? This is all so confusing and frustrating because there are so many other people who get their interview AND visa on the SAME DAY. (my friend's fiance was able to do this) Ahhh!

I have made up my mind to expect bad news all the way- so I do not get hopes up. I made up my mind that it will take a year more. I hate thinking like this, but I went into such a depression after the other times. I do know his interview went well so that gives me hope.

Hang in there everyone. Perhaps we can lobby Congress to make this process less frustrating. Enough of not knowing what is happening or the websites that have confusing/conflicting information! I can't believe I am dealing with the US- I thought things would be much more user-friendly and understandable.

You are all in my thoughts..

Hello- Just an update. Ghassan went up to the Embassy on Sunday based on what it said on the Damascus Embassy site. It had said that when the number appears online, to go up there... so he does and they were pretty rude. The man asked him what he needed and Ghassan told him. The man then asked what it said online- and Ghassan said "pending"- and then he was asked if he knows what that means...and of course Ghassan did and the man told him to come back when it says completed. My question is- WHY ISN'T THIS MORE CLEAR ON THE SITE? I am so upset- as it was a little bit demeaning for him...and to top it off, the man didn't even look at him. Needless to say, I had to deal with a very dim man Sunday night.

Of course, I knew this was exactly what was going to happen- but we felt we needed to do what the Embassy site said.

I would just love to lobby Congress to get this whole process much more understandable and user-friendly. I am embarrassed that the US Embassy sites are not clear about what to do and what to expect.

Anyway- I am out of town until Wednesday.. kids and I are exploring Chicago! :dancing:

Hey,

Yea I had to deal with a very dim man for 13 months, 5 unsuccessful embassy visits and AP done twice. I know how bad it feels Baj, don't worry it will be over soon. You did what you had to do, I went to the embassy after 6 months of AP to inquire about my husband, they weren't outright rude because I was the US citizen, but they weren't helpful either. They also said pending is pending but you know what? I knew at least that I did what I could do for this case and the rest was up to Allah. I believe you should keep checking with DOS and the website - the thing is, the checks are done at multiple levels and with different agencies and they agencies don't necessarily update one another. It kinda gets lost in the many checks and finally when it's completed, that is the only update they provide. I have read about congress trying to help with the backlogs of cases from 2006 and earlier but that doesn't seem to be happenning as quickly as we want it. Hopefully this immigration process will be behind you soon and your husband will recieve the visa and join you here soo, Insha-Allah.

God bless,

Tam
