Why do people insist that when celebs die - it's always in threes?

Who do you count? What is the delay between the deaths to make them equal three?

Sure, famous people die all the time, not to count the 1000's of nameless people that die every day.

You only hear of the famous people - not the nameless ones - since the fomer get more "press" time...

I see on the threads of Farrah and Michael "so sad, it's the three curse...." (they add in Ed McMahon)

What about Dom DeLuise? (count is 4 now) or Natasha Richardson? (count is 5 now).

I guess it's similar to seeing "figures/faces" in patches of mold on the wall...

Dom was almost 2 months ago and Natasha was longer than that... don't count

Is there a magic number between deaths?

Is anyone seriously grouping those three together? Oy vey! Now that's a trio!

Someone needs to start reading Wikipedia's "notable deaths" page every day. Not that I know anyone who does that.

Here - this blog tracks deaths of "famous" people...

More than 3 (and within days/months of each other)

so much for the "Three theory"

This also falls under another pet peeve of mine, where people claim they are "just know" when a loved one is calling them (or they are thinking of them), and surprise - they are right!!

Of course they only remember the few times (or one) they are correct, and not the 100's of misses.

(of course they are not thinking that usually, most calls you receive are from loved ones.....)

I bet you didn't try dividing them all by three did you?

LOL - yeah - they used that on me too...

Guess to make the data fit the theory... :)

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Now now, stop trying to tear down people's comfortable superstitions. You'll get a reputation for cynicism, and they might even give you a dirty label!

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

True! Or the "Holy Trinity" which only takes in religions that actually believe in that...

True - but look at the Farrah case.

She tried to "cure" her cancer with wild cures (holistic type cures, or "alternate", etc..) - claimed herself "cured", instead of treating it like other people do *chemo*/removal of the affected tissue, and ends up dead because of it.

Mumbo Jumbo can kill if taken too far....

(had an Aunt that didn't go to a doctor because she was so afraid of getting cancer, she ended up dying, of cancer (untreated till it was to late))
