When to file Removal of Condition?

Hi Fellow VJ'ers,

I just got my 2 years greencard on June 18th,2009.

My expiration of my card is May 22,2011.My question is when do I have to file for removal of conditions? Is it 90days before my card expires or 90 days counting backwards from the Month/Date/Year I got my welcome letter?

Also,it makes me confuse because I saw some VJ members filed their Removal of Conditions 60days from the date they received their greencard and/or welcome letter.

Which is which?

Thank you for the advance replies.

It's within the 90 days period before the expiration of your green card, not from the date you receive it.

90days before my card expires

You can't file prior to 90 days, but you can file afterwards that 90 day mark.

Oh - congrats on the card :)

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

Yes. that only puts you at 87 days if my math is right.

If you try to time it, and send it prior to the 90's, even if they get it on the 90th day, there is a post here like this btw, they will send it back, since it was sent in before "90 days".

So the best way is to send it at or after the 90 day mark. (which is the date you exampled)

Thanks again.

Also in 2 years the forms and rules might change, so please check USCIS website for more file. Right now the file is I-751 "Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence" so check USCIS website for the form at that time which says, "Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence" or something like that and read the instruction for that form and come back to this forum for more info and help with your questions.
