In all seriousness regardless of what he did before, it was overshadowed by the stuff that happened at the end of his career. Now that he is dead people are praising him for what he was not what he became.

Where were all these people when he needed help? Oh ya... they were making fun of him along with the rest of the world.

Its sad because of the situation he was in prior to his death. I find that sad. I kind of feel like he's free now... as are his kids.

There are always 3 sides to a story...2 being their respective sides, and one being the truth...we as outsiders will never have privy to the 3rd version....

It is evident that he was a troubled individual...having been the product of a very abnormal upbringing and inevitably becoming a product of his environment.

Two things are for sure...he was a major impact and contribution to the music industry and in that regard, an icon and a legend...regardless of his personal life....his personal life is something in itself....

People commend public figures for their contributions even though they may be twisted individuals in other aspects....there are many people who commend Bill Clinton yet in his personal life he was a major ***** up! lol....

I can't comment on whether he was a good person or not, and true that if any children were affected negatively, that is truly wrong and sad.

I think it was very tasteful that when his family released a statement, their first thing they addressed...was that before they were willing to talk about MJ, they wanted the world to know that if he were still around, he would be deeply saddened by the passing of Farrah Fawcett...

I guess the magnitude of their passing is in relation to how big they were...Farrah may not have gotten as much play as MJ...but how about poor Ed McMahon? lol.....

yeah, I didn't even know Ed McMahon had died until a few days ago

as for Michael we really don't know what happened or if anything happened.. so I don't think we can judge... all we know is what the News has told us over the years...

I guess this was my point. I don't know any celebrities personally so I can't comment on their lives or who they are. A guy like MJ to me...was just about the music. There have been so many great athletes as well who have had lead very strange lives and had troubled personal lives...but they still are remembered as "greats".

I agree with you though, Nev, to the fact that it appeared no one was there for Michael when he needed help.

I really do think he was a child-man who always tried to live out his childhood in adulthood because he never had one.

I just don't think it's right for any one to judge any one. And maybe I'm one of a few people who didn't buy into any "Jacko" hype in the past 10 years. It was only ever about the music for me.
