Not shocked at all, he had lived one crazy life!!! rest in peace!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

:( He will be missed. His personal life was always in the tabloids, but his music will definitely live on forever. (F)

As bad as it sounds I agree with E. The guy without a doubt destroyed the lives of some kids, I couldn't care less that he managed to sing a few catchy songs. He constantly bought his way out of the scandals and now his death is overshadowing a good person like Farrah Fawcett passing, just not fair.

My wife has been back since June 5, 2007. Now we're just livin' man, L I V I N :)

No, I dont think so, my first response was to be optimistic for his kids, sure they will have to live without their dad, but 2/3 of them do have a mother who has made efforts to have some custody of them. Their life with Michael was prolly very far from normal - they are wearing stupid mardi gras masks as well as very strange clothing in a lot of the photos ... Maybe now they can have some hope for a normal life which is likely impossible in their previous circumstances. The new stuff about his pain killer addictions makes me sad for his children because no child should have to feel the pain of growing up with an addicted parent.

A few catchy songs? Like..Billy Ray Cyrus?

As a musician myself who grew up listening to Michael Jackson, I think you couldn't be more off here. You know, he had a lot of negativity in his personal life, we all know that from the media ######-storm. He was accused of a lot of things and maybe some of those things were true. But for the first 30 odd years of his life, none of that existed. He was obviously a very troubled man. I don't care what any one thinks about him as a person, but his music has nothing to do with that.

However, please don't down play his contributions to music. Not only did he take music to a new level, he also paved the way for a lot of black entertainers in main stream media. He ALSO made the modern music video what it is today. "Bad" was my very first record. Maybe you have to be a musician to truly appreciate his extraordinary talent, but you shouldn't have to be.

I don't think his death is overshadowing Farrah's death at all. She was very sick for awhile now and there was lots of media coverage already on her declining life. Also, how many people on this board can REALLY say that they watched Farrah Fawcett? At 25, 99% of her work was considerably before my time. She did Charlie's Angles in 1976, 33 years ago. I'm not downplaying her awful death. She was a young woman still and it's a terrible shame. But I think sharing both of their deaths is more appropriate than saying he was basically a horrible person who almost deserved to die.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

i did the thriller dance with my niece last night...and i taught her how to moonwalk. i think his death has resuscitated the positives of his life and his good music. i'm hearing songs i haven't heard in decades and i still remember all the words. people will remember these great things and forget the ####### he did.
