^Yeah, i work all week up around the Decatur area and it's very hot and dry, feels like a giant hair dryer blowing on you outside! I live in central TX though. It's nicer there as there is a little more humidity and more hills and rivers. It still gets hot as you know what, but the hot air isnt near as bad as North TX, or places like Houston where the humidity presses down on you.

All you Pinays need to overcome your fear of water, learn to swim, and then really enjoy and look foward to the summers!

oh my gosh , and i dont know how to swim ; oh well hubby told me that i should learn , oh by the way , he is from the rose capital of USA , in east Texas .

^Yeah, it was actually 110 F yesterday at my place! Anyway, we are really glad too get some responses here. I know it makes her feel good knowing that she's not gonna be the only Filipina in this big state! Who knows, maybe some day we could all have a VJ get-together on a weekend at a lake. Bar-b-q, swim, fish, boat around....just hang-out and have a good time. We could even rent a karaoke machine so our women can sing 70's and 80's love songs together! lol

Count me in!

We live north of Austin, bout 15 min away.

I arrived here summer of last year and it was good coz I didn't find it hard adjusting to the weather. I immediately found a Filipina working as a cashier at HEB which made me feel like home.

I think Texas is the nicest place for a Filipina coz it's weather is very close to ours in the Philippines except for winter but it's tolerable. And yes I love the lakes here too. I love water so much that's why I enjoy summer more than any other season. I just wished that we're near the beach though.

Anyway, I think your fiancee will love it here. Just teach her to drive ASAP coz the public transportation here is nowhere as big in the Philippines, IMO.

My wife will be here soon...I live in Houston and I agree that she will like the weather here much better than north USA. But it's suprisingly cold right now. I think she will be shocked when she arrives; and she doesn't have winter clothes. :) we will need to shop for some right away.

Hey gals, my finacee will be living here with me in Texas when she arrives from Cebu. I was wondering how all of you Filipinas that live in Texas like it.

Does the weather seem ok, have you spent a brutal Texas summer here yet? We don't really get much snow, and the winters are generally mild, so you may not feel too cold here. Tank tops and flip flops are the norm here for 9 months out of the year.

We have beaches here, not as nice as PI, but beaches none the less. We have many lakes and rivers, and because the weather is so warm here there is alot of water-sports to get involved in, (wakeboard, wakeskate, ski, swim, boating, etc.).

There are lot's of good fishing spots, so we have a good variety of fresh seafood.

The Spanish influence can be seen and felt through town's names, the food, people's last names, etc.

There are lot's of Hispanics here, so the black hair/eyes, and brown skin doesn't stand out at all.

All in all i think Texas is a great cross-over from the PI.....am i right ladies?

Salamat Yall!

Kamusta? :) When I first arrived here in Austin, the first major thing I had to get adjusted to was the weather! I have very thin skin so I get cold easily. (BRRRRRR!!! ) My fiance had to buy me lots of warm clothes so I won't get cold. ^_^ But I think I'm used to the cold weather by now. ;)

My fiancee will be here early Jan. in Houston. She has been in Texas last year in Houston and Austin. She likes the weather here but I'm sure she will not be too fond of the winters. HAHA. Props to AUSTIN, great place to visit and 6th street is always fun.
