Well, im doing the CR 1 but my wife says she called immigration and they said that the cr 1 can take another 6 months. I know this is not true. I think that they are thinking she is talking about the k1? No idea.

We got the interview for the K3 and its Aug 3, i was just going to ignore that but shes so worried that now the CR 1 is another 6 months. Can someone please tell her on here that its NOT 6 more months.

Her Embassy was the one that told her that.

IF the interview for the K 3 was Aug 3 then how long do you think it will take for the CR 1?

Thank you for your help.

A video about me and my wife. I have been to the DR about 8 times and cant wait to spend my life with her. The video i created myself and has numerous pictures and videos about our life. http://blip.tv/file/2212591/

I'm confused. If you have an interview for August on a K1, why would you apply now for a CR1? By the way, depending on which center is processing the CR1 (and in your case it would probably be Vermont) the processing time IS 6 Months. It could be sooner, but probably will not be.

no they have interview on August for K3.

I don't see your timeline... it is not updated yet.

Exactly how far along are you in the CR1 NVC process? Details are important when you are asking questions here.

Also, some fly through NVC in 17days some takes 1-2 months depending on how ready your documents are.

Have you sent NVC the I-864 packet and DS-230 and other required docs? If so then it may make it to the consulate before K-3 interview and the consulate may simply drop the K-3 and make the interview a CR-1 interview.

KEEP the I-130 moving through NVC.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Yep! if you've done paying for the I-864 and DS230, then continue the process.

If not and you're stuck somewhere in NVC, keep the k3 interview and do k3 by Aug 3.

Good luck!

I dont' know about current situation of Dominican Republic but a year ago someone (from Dominican) told me how it used to take around 2 years to get interview date. You should really do some more research on this topic, and see the current timelines from beneficiary's country.

Here is the post I am talking about.

Our time line for CR1 visa took only 5 months and 1 week or 156 days; from the filing the I-130 on the 03-12-2009 to Approval of NOA2 on the 05/13/2009, then Interview on the 08/18/2009 at Manila, Philippines. We had a daughter on the 11-12-2010 named AISHA JOY means HAPPY LIFE.a1_opt-1.jpga2_opt-1.jpga3_opt-1.jpg

Now im really confused.

So far i have the approval for the I 130 and the I129f(K3)

I have currently not sent anymore money or any more papers. The last thing i got in the mail was saying the K3 will be sent to her embassy in a week, in which i hope to abandon/ignore. I talked to someone from USCIS and they said i need to wait for a package?????

Yesterday I called to question the NVC why they havent sent me something stating that they are sending papers to her country like the K3. They responded they are working on the papers now.

Also i find it strange that we have a appointment and i have yet to recieve anything stating that appointment. Now my wife is going for something medical tomorrow, to a appointed doctor. Ive seen the papers , stating, "Resident" which i thought was the CR1 but later found out it was the K3.

I really want to do the CR1 but i am so lost.

May be ask your question in this forum, people going through Dominican will have a better idea about how much time it takes to get an interview date with CR-1.

Hello my friend, If I am not mistaken, the 5 months is for the California Service Center,,, then you have the NVC timeline...

Plus the embassy processing time.

You are right in that our timeline is about 5 months end to end...

But, if you ask Immigration,,, they would probably state 5 months CSC + 2 months NVC + 2 months Embassy = 9 months.

and shave a month off that for a K3.

My two centavos,

Please Please Do not trust USCIS. They are not trust worthy. You have not paid anything to NVC for CR1 and you already have an interview date for K3 in August. So, I just do not understand why you still wanna go thorugh CR1. Forget CR1 and go for your K3. And be thankful that atleast for now on, you are done with USCIS.

If CR1 case gets to NVC before your K3 interview and NVC is ready to process and you know that you can get an nterview date, NOT in August but may be in Sep or Oct, then, in that sitiation, if you want to wait for CR1, you can do that. But just don't trust what USCIS is saying. I have been dealing with USCIS for almost 7 years and they are terrible. Good luck!!!!!

Yes i agree with that Plz go for K3 bcz u got the interiview date already and if u will chose CR-1 u will need to send allot of paper work to NVC again so i advise u go for K3 .

Well, im doing the CR 1 but my wife says she called immigration and they said that the cr 1 can take another 6 months. I know this is not true. I think that they are thinking she is talking about the k1? No idea.

It could be 6 more months for the CR1 - I don't think they are misleading your wife. They have to give you a number that is perhaps longer than it will actually take, I mean in theory you could fly through all the NVC paperwork in a couple of weeks, if you are really prepared - however what if the paperwork gets hung up in a name check?

IF the interview for the K 3 was Aug 3 then how long do you think it will take for the CR 1?

Well a pretty good indicator would be looking at how long it took between your I-129 being approved and the scheduled date for the interview.

Do you have all your paperwork ready for NVC - police checks, birth certificate, pay stubs, tax transcript(s)? I'm not sure that you understand that with the CR1 you have to do the affidavit of support and DS-230 paperwork with NVC BEFORE you can be scheduled for that interview.
